by Gucci L. on Went on a Friday evening as nothing was planned on that night. After making reservations drove around 8PM and parking spaces were available in plenty. Parked across the club and the places around looked shady and ghetto ugh! We got seating at the bar and it was super crowded on that night. It took forever for the host/hostess to take our order and drinks. And so was the service. super slow and even though we were at the bar, the drinks took forever to reach us. Later they had the show and the performers started dancing/singing. Food is over priced and it was nothing special. The shrimp salad tasted good and the portions are small. Not that entertaining even if I got drunk.
by Jarvis Tonner on Mamajuana Cafe: a place for the elite of Washington Heights...really? There's an elite in the Heights? Go figure...if I liked good looking, well built, Italian clad greasy Dominican men...this would be heaven on a Saturday Night. Instead I have the yellow disease (not fever...the DISEASE) and am outcasted by my fellow Dominicans...my boyfriend is Chinese...go figure... Ahhhhhhh I digressed...so no lie the ambiance is off the hook...rustic Spanish decor. The Sangria is delish. Tapas is the way to go. Don't get mad at me for NOT knowing the names of the dishes but here we go...Calamari Salad...yum and big enough to share. The pinchos...yum and big enough to share...Tapas Platter which is kind of big enough to share but not if the other person has a big appetite. Camarones al ajillo...can we say YUM (in unison). All in all Mamajuana is a solid 4 stars but definitely 5 stars if you like the aforementioned men....good food, good drinks, good music, good looks..I love eating here and not having to travel all the way downtown.........the Heights is moving on up...
by Hobert Rought on Acrobatic dancers raining down from the ceiling. Europeans with bottle service, tight shirts and bad attitudes. Downstairs main bar too crowded, upstairs bar better bet. Coked up socialites, no bueno.
