The Mock Crest Tavern - About Us
The Mock Crest Tavern is a small hangout where friends can come have drinks and yet feel like they are at home. Although we are mall in stature we are big on attracting locally infamous musical blues acts. If you’re not in the mood for live music we do offer a disk player full of 200 CD’s. If its fun your looking for then we offer pool and lottery products. So come on home.

At some point after moving away from Philly this play became RAD. Whenevr i would go home for vacations it seedm to be the spot everyone went to. its great. spacious, good beer and drinks, pool table. hip crowd. what more could you want.

Another stop on the 27th st. club row, I went to 'Home' last night and the joint was really bumpin'. Wednesday is actually a great time to go. The club is much less packed and you can actually dance versus fighting for breathing space. Fridays and weekends are just a scrum so good luck at the door (unless you're buying bottles). The interior is small, sexy, and dark. There's an outer ring of low slung leather couches and tables surrounding a central "dance floor"  in which tables are placed. They'd have much more space if they cleared the middle area where they now throw a few tables. But it's this relatively awkward configuration, the close proximity it ends up throwing people, and the dark 'mood' lighting that causes the place to exude a particularly cozy vibe. Of course, each place is only as good as the crowd and I'll give it to Home that the crowd was pretty good. Your typical mix of trend-heads, scenesters, bankers and partygoers populate the scene (I'd guess the guy/girl ratio was roughly 1:1). I was with a group of girls and while I wouldn't categorize the place as a pick-up joint, there were no shortage of attempts being made. However, that's pretty much par for the course at any of these establishments and it didn't ruin the vibe. The music they played last night was good. A mix of top 40 and old school hip-hop with mash-ups and remixes thrown in. I usually don't listen to much pop. But, the DJ at Home did a good job at keeping the crowd pleased and the bodies moving. Every once in a while he'd throw something a little different into the mix. Just to keep it interesting. Totally dance-able. I'm really on the 3 to 4 star fence on this club. The bottom line is that 'Home' is slightly above par (earning 4 stars, rating this in comparison its peers). Why? A decent space, a decent crowd, and an above average DJ (for the night) lent me a positive impression versus other spaces in this category.
