by Ricky K. on The crowd of smokers and hangers-on who pollute the sidewalk outside of this speakeasy look like they ought to be on South Street in the single digits. I've never seen more losers in one place wearing The North Face jackets (probably their nicest jacket, BTW!) Yeah! North Face! Yeah dudes! Let's do some car-bombs and drinks Jaegers and Lagers! Yo let's snort some Oxys later! Another embarassment to Philadelphia when upscale establishments have to coexist with honkytonks like this.
by Nish N. on I just took a sneak-peak at Harlot, and all I have to say is wow, wow, wow. Gorgeously provocative - and evocative - interior. I'm talking gigantic paintings covering the walls, sexy tables whose surfaces are giant photos in themselves, a smoking section a la Rye, plenty of seating to cozy up on while checking out the beautiful people. And that's not even mentioning the upstairs lounge and bar, surely to be a coveted pole position amongst all kinds of hipsters and scenesters. The name Harlot in itself conjures up a playful yet sexy image, and they've done a really super job in capturing that feeling and atmosphere. Sounds likes they'll have a choice wine list as well, and being connected to Salt House is just another bonus. Look for me there at happy hour coursing into the night.
