A few friends and I went to Third Floor Cafe last night for their Tuesday night special in celebration of our friend moving back to Mexico for med school. Third Floor Cafe is a swank Korean eatery located on the third flood of 315 Fifth ave. Walk into the building, say "Hi" to the doorman and get into the teeny elevator up to the third floor. When you enter the space you're greeted with sultry world music. During our meal they played August Day Song (King Britt Remix) by Bebel Gilberto. Have a listen here : http://bit.ly/aX5g6A. It gives you a great idea of what type of atmosphere and vibe the restaurant has. If you're wondering what language they're singing it's Portuguese :) - represent! The large dining space is equip with a bar, lounge areas with plush benches and up two steps, some tables. The entire space is dimly lit with flickering candles. It's very nice and relaxing. Since Jane K. last reviewed Third Floor Cafe back in '09 they've raised there prices by just a few bucks for their all you can eat special. It's only $18 per person for all you can eat pork, fried chicken (there are bones in them) and baked potatoes (which by the way were quite delicious), and spicy rice cakes. All you can drink Bud and Miller Lite plus their house Chardonnay. The service is quite excellent. Our waitress was very attentive. Made sure we always had our choice of pork, chicken or potato. Our beer bucket and my wine glass was always full. My suggestion is to definitely take advantage of their special. Otherwise their menu tends to be on the pricey side. The Tuesday night special is definitely a great value.

Thursday night salsa dancing and live music is famous. Widely known in the Salsa scene, this is the best place on the west coast. Thursday night this place is busier than most places on the weekend. The few times I've been there the live music was worth the cover by itself. I am shocked that more attractive young guys don't go to this because cute girls way out-number the guys and most of the guys there are on the older side. But really who cares their age when they dance so well they can even lead my two left feet into something resembling hot Latin moves. When I don't bring along a partner, I am always disappointed with the lack of guys over 5'8" though. As a general rule the older and shorter, the better dancer they are, so a couple of strong drinks and good tunes later, I get over it. Another activity that is a really great work out, but still ton's of fun!
