5 stars because Yoshi's booked one of the greatest pianist ever. i was a fortunate girl this weekend as i saw Ahmad Jamal play the most beautiful music and to my surprise Manolo Badrena was playing with him- OMFG! i was beyond thrilled. the venue itself is not appealing to me. watching people stuff their faces while watching living legends annoys me, the stench of old fish and strong perfume reminds me of vegas. if it wasn't for the music and the red wine i would have left quickly. well, the music was just perfect, when it was over it was storming outside, i was so pleased. http://www.youtube.com... http://www.youtube.com...

A friend of mine planned... tried to plan a birthday party here last night... key word being tried. She's a very organized person and was working on this a month in advance. Booked it for tonight, Saturday July 11th... there was no problem at the time - we were going to have our own private room with our own private DJ and free entrance to anyone on her list, it was going to be a great time. Two weeks before the event they called her up and told her that they overbooked for that night. No biggie, she moved the event to Friday night because the room would be free for that night. The Wednesday prior to the party she goes down to the place to sign the bar guarantee which is pretty standard stuff, everything is golden and set. The night of, she gets there at 10 to set things up and make sure everything is cool turns out that they overbooked again - this is after having been in constant contact with the management of the place over the past week and PERSONALLY being there on Wednesday. They said we'd have our own roped off area, still free admission, and free bottles of Henny all night. That didn't happen either as her guests were being turned away at the door, and I was still personally charged the $40 to get in. I specifically explained the situation to the guy at the door but it was no dice. What a complete and utter disaster it was. Never ever try and plan a party here. The staff does not know what they are doing. As far as the place itself - decent looking women, the music was tiresome as the DJ often time played intros to songs that would utterly stop the momentum on the dance-floor instead of mixing in... and would stop the bonafide club bangers mid-stream for other songs. The bartenders were too busy talking to patrons and among themselves to take care of people looking to buy drinks. If I ever go back there, it'll be too soon.

Once upon a time this place use to be one of the most staple spots in Atlanta. Now, well, just an over hyped playground for hipsters and suburbanites shaking their ass to the same tired ass and played out indie dance hits. Yes, you heard the same set last week, you'll hear it at decatur social club on fridays and you're damn right.. you're gonna hear it again at lenny's on saturday. Taking cash only is good way to stick it back to the IRS, for that I give them a thumbs up! Oh yeah, forget about an A/C system, not gonna happen or that goes for dance floor space as well. Pros: Great place to pickup tail, fish in a barrel!!!! (just make sure you check their id! lol!) (BRING BACK SATURDAY NIGHT DEEP!!!)
