I wish I had the chance to enjoy a second visit to this this beautiful bar/lounge.. if only for the drinks! Interesting names and flavor combos and well worth a visit only for the truffle mac and cheese and deviled eggs while watching a Charlie Chaplin movie on the giant brick wall. Located in downtown LA, the entrance is down an alleyway with a nondescript sign, so be on the lookout for this gem!

Methinks definitely not. This was probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. We went there for dinner because it's right next to the theater. They sat the two of us at a table for 6. Felt like walking out then but I ordered nachos and they were worse than the ones you would get at a stadium. Salty with old ingredients. Orange cheese. Dry defrosted tomatoes. Cold. I could tell the server hated serving such disgusting food, but even she wasn't attentive. Maybe she was sick of complaints. Then the check came... it was over $40. WHAT. Earlier, I'd looked around and not one person was having a good time. The atmosphere is majorly lacking and people looked mostly sad, tired... sullen. I felt sorry for the tourists who might've thought that this was San Francisco cuisine. So many better places to spend $40 here in this lovely city. What a pity. Really, I felt a strong moral obligation not to pay for the food. It was hard to part with my twenty. We got out of there as fast as we could...never to return!

Sexy .. hip .. but so late 90s ... early 2000's ... Has anyone been in the Iron Bar in London in the early 2000's, Buddha Bar in Paris, Bramante Bar in Via della Pace, Roma set on an 18th century structure? Those were/are various Euro-eclectic bars. Prana is another attempt to provide an eclectic Euro-style lounge with a world view slant, which a lot of SF bars have finally seem to catch on to. It has achieved to create the setting, however, San Francisco culture is simply UNcosmoplitan! The population is predominantly either so-Preppie, or so-Hippie., or so-Grunge; definitely not of a cosmo world view. Perhaps I have echo'ed some prior reviewers' observations that somehow perceived a lack of differentiation, perhaps a lack of luster, in their overall Prana experience? Or maybe I am being unfair. I will return to Prana on a regular evening for dinner and experience its total ambiance sans a "soft opening" sort of event, experience the Prana essence during its regular hours of operations, to experience Prana in its natural setting. For now, a three stars.
