The wide range in reviews for this place seems to suggest that many of you were "taken" to Insomnia (as opposed to going willingly). If you don't know what I'm talking about, see Dave Chapelle's HBO standup on his experience with being "taken" to the ghetto. It is easy to be shocked by insomnia if it catches you unprepared. I suggest going sober so you can take in all the sites: last time I saw some bikini clad cougar in giant furry boots. Main reason to go here... the music is FANTASTIC! I seriously could care less about liquor being served after 2 am- my main concern is finding good house music!

"Built in 1907, it has maintained its Victorian interiors, featuring the original faux decorated paneling and wainscoting, and a forty-foot hand carved mahogany bar." Another San Francisco institution! Haven't been there in ~5 years but went for a concert last night. Still retains it's classic, urban charm. Drink prices reasonable, cool and hip crowd, and good live music (forgot the name of the band but they kinda reminded me of Green Day). Anyway, I think I'm gonna to check their calendar to see what else is going on in the next few weeks...

The outside looks like it could par of masonic lodge, or some grand secret meeting place rather then a bar. But when you walk in, guess what it's a bar. Very cozy atomosphere that keeps it very classic. if you looking for tvs you might as well head somewhere else. Didn't get a chance to try the food, not one for bar food, but they did have a good selection of beers on tap and in bottles. Personal Favorite is the Megatron, Hopitimus Prime w/ Guinness and Solar Eclipse, Blue Moon and Guinness. Ulitimately I enjoyed my time here, was quite and an enjoyable conversation with the Bar keep. Not sure what it's like on other nights but if you come to Philly, Check it out.
