Rouge was the second stop for our party bus group on the Friday after Thanksgiving. We were making an attempt at a blackout Friday, if you will. Since most of us were already buzzed, please take this into account when reading this review. Music was poppin', most people in the spot were dancing. Those who weren't dancing were treated to nice plush seats or perched upon bar stools. The drinks we did purchase were delish - washington apples. Bartenders were friendly, security was great, easy to approach and did their jobs well without terrorizing Rouge's guests.

This place is the strangest oddity in Brookline. Why, in the middle of a wealthy Jewish enclave is there a restaurant/wine bar/disco club open every night until 2 in the morning? The food here is really good, I think it's all organic chinese/american fusion. Every item of food here I've ever had has been great. The duck, the fish, the chicken it's all fantastic. But I really like coming here on the weekends since there is no cover charge and slurping down a scorpion bowl as I watch older women pick up young men. The DJ is hilarious and always plays Michael Jackson but won't play the Black-Eyed Peas "My Hump" because the restaurant owner thinks that song is too risque. I absolutely love this place because not only do they have really good food with free delivery, or take out ready in fifteen minutes, they are one of the only restaurants in Boston to win mention in Wine Spectator. I mean they have it all, a really random dance floor, crab rangoons for when your drunk off of a scorpion bowl and really cranky Chinese waiters who mumble about loud, annoying Americans in Chinese.

I LOVE this place. Here is a club that not only hosts local upcoming talent as well as serving up quality mashups, but it's always packed with the most diverse crowd you've ever seen. Hipsters, Gothic types, rave junkies, everyone. I've never had a mediocre time. Beware the $11 long islands, although they do the trick they taste like death.
