Came here on a Friday night for a school function. The bouncers were pretty fast about letting people in and not arbitrarily holding up the line. I think the one thing about this place that worked was there were ZERO fake turfies from the Broadway clubs, smelly people from Delirium, or corny people from Bar None. People were dressed to impress and having a great time. This is NOT your old Boss 750. The $4 Sam Adams and other drinks were actually reasonably priced for SF.

what an awesome finale to spending my day at the golden dome taking pictures with sonny perdue! weird mexicanish food in a beautiful location! my out of towns were dying to come here...what with the real housewives and the tableside guacamole....rosa mexicano seemed like a real hit. but, it's not. i mean, yes, the guacamole is tasty, but isn't it always? tableside preparation is sorta fun, but come on, really? it isn't a new concept for sure....stephen starr is all over that at el vez. the stuff sits out all day until someone orders it....and 12 bucks? i'll pass. okay, okay, pomegranate margaritas....they are pretty tasty, as are most of their drink selections. plus they serve pacifico...which i love. other than that, i think RM is mostly hype. my fish tacos were overcooked, but i must admit, whatever fresh corn thing they were serving on the side was delish. i really think it was corn kernels in a little mayo with some salt pepper and cayenne. yum. you get bland rice and beans for the table and some weak corn tortillas if people order tacos. they come in cute little iron skillets, but the meat lacks real flavor, and really, the portions are heavy on the peppers and onions. one of my friends had chicken enchiladas...lots of dark chicken rolled in a tortilla and drenched in a green sauce. she left 4/5ths of it on the plate. service was okay. i thought the waiter had a wee bit of attitude, but perhaps that's part of the atlantic station fancy pants vibe. either way, glasses never went empty and plates were cleared, so i won't really complain. this is basically a fancy chain whose claim to fame is "authentic Mexican cooking, stylish spaces and festive atmosphere". stylish spaces and festive atmosphere, yes. actually, many of the dishes are authentic....but alas, i don't think that the flavors really are.....unless bland, meh and watered down are the hallmarks of authentic mexican.
