I was in San Francisco for the weekend and wanted to watch the UFC fights. We were pointed to Jillian's. Service was great, and it was a great place to watch the fights. Only problem I had, was a server came by and asked if we would share our seats with those coming in late. We politely declined. Several minutes later another server came by and stated that it was policy for us, the customers, to let others sit with us if there was no room left. I wouldn't have had a problem with it if there was something warning us, in writing this could happen. I have a hard time believing that we, the customers, have to be punished and be forced by the establishment to accommodate those that didn't take the time to plan ahead and show up early or on time to get their own table. Next time I'm in the city, I think I'll find another bar to watch the fights and one who will appreciate my business.

Before I head back East...I have to pass along my recommendation for the best meal I had during my entire trip out West. I know, you're probably thinking "at an airport?" but yes, it was what I got as I was leaving Austin at Salt Lick. I didn't have enough time to make it down to Driftwood, so I had to content myself with a pulled pork sandwich an hour before I left town. Way better than what we have back at home, the meat was fork tender and the sauce was savory but not overpowering. I could taste individual flavors yet none overpowered the others - very impressive. Sometimes meals are memorable because the food hangs around for days...and one wishes it wouldn't. Other times it's the price or the service. In the case of the Salt Lick it's the taste - and was it ever good! The worst thing I can say about it is that I now need to find an excuse to reroute my next flight back through Austin. Mmmm. Tasty!

I agree with most of the reviews here. There isn't anything "wrong" with the bar other than it's a small-bar trying to be a big-bar. If it would be content with it's small-size status, it would be better. It's just trying too hard... It's a nice-looking group of people, but you're packed in so closely you can't appreciate it. There is a downstairs, but I spent my time downstairs thinking that if there were a fire, we'd all be in trouble because of the stampede it would cause and the lack of exits. The "DJ" was a girl with an Ipod who was just playing old pop hits. Definitely nothing special there. The bartender made my raspberry vodka and sprite wrong...twice...I then gave up and got a beer (no complaints with how he took the cap off the bottle though).
