Went to Ecco on Saturday as I had been neglecting one of my favorite spots in the city. Why do I like it so much? Atmosphere, wine list, people, service, food. To me, Ecco stands out as they dare to be different with their menu. I appreciate how much they have limited their entrees, and do not try to do everything under the sun. The servers are always spot on, and provide the perfect amount of touching all night. I was there for their annual sirens of the sea menu. 10 days of heavy seafood dishes. Started with the Tuna Rillettes with toasted bread. This was just okay to be honest. Nothing special. Next, had an interesting take on Salt cod Brandade. Cod was whipped and baked with onions, herbs and tomatoes. You used toasted bread to spread the Cod. It was really good. By the time we were done with the apps and a loaf of bread (it is so good) we shared an in-house made fennel pork sausage over large white beans, some veggies and reduced wine sauce. Super simple and very tasty. Great wine as always, but what totally let me down was the server. He just plain sucked. Was not passionate about his job or the food, set the bill down and was looking to take it up before our card was placed down. He just was not good. Surely not a deterrent as the service is never like this.

Amazing! The music and the dancing is fabulous. Such a great time. The band and dancers are definetely the best part. The music is electrifying and the dancers are very talented. Fela, played by Kevin Mambo the night I saw it, was also very good. His music talents are endless and he does a great job keeping the show interesting. The set is also really great. If you like great music, this is a must see!
