by Ellie W. on Oh gosh, this place is so incredibly over-the-top in trying to channel a "Chinese" vibe, it makes me laugh thinking about it. It reminds me more of a karaoke bar that mated with a symphony hall than anything else. The first thing I thought upon entering was, "Oh my GAUDY." Golden Temple is very much catered to the type of person who's never had authentic Chinese food before and thinks that all Chinese food comes in the shape of fortune cookies. I didn't particularly enjoy the food here--it tasted too salty and too MSG-ish. Pretty overpriced as well. The neon lights inside don't really help, either. I'd like to give this place 2 stars for trying, but I think I'd just be lying to myself.
by Kristin L. on Went there this past saturday with a bunch of friends... I was completely enamored, and the 20 bucks to get in the club was totally worth it. Heads up, like everyone else has said, there's a parking garage across the street on the corner for 10 bucks... don't waste your money on Valet. Also, we showed up at 10:30ish, and the line moved really quick. Pros: 1) Great ambiance, outdoor and indoors. I loved the layout and the look of the fireplace, outdoor cabanas, everything... completely sold!!! 2) 3 decent bars, so there wasn't a long line for drinks 3) dance floor was packed but was still able to dance...Loved it 4) Great people... there's a mix here so its not just pretentious, prissy "hollywooders" 5) and maybe most important: Free taco bar and chocolate fountain... I must say they were some of the best tacos I've had, and the chocolate fountain was SOOO good. Only in LA will a club have free tacos for all :) 6) great performers... someone was shooting fire for a minute, and then were amazing dancers... it was kind of like dinner, dessert, dancing, and a show all in one. Cons 1) DJ was good, but played a lot of old stuff and didn't mix enough 2) drinks are typical hollywood prices, so you better pre-game if you don't want to spend 13 bucks for a long island 3) Club has a 2for1 ratio, so don't plan to have a guys night out unless you reserve a table. We had to mingle with some girls before just so my guy friends could all get in. Overall, great club and great times. All 11 people we went with had a great time, and we're planning another trip back. Every city should have a place like this.
