by Diedre R. on After reading the other reviews, I went into Loca Luna's knowing that I wasnt going to be overwhelmed with its greatness, but my daughter insisted this is where she wanted to celebrate her 24th birthday, because she wanted to salsa. We sat out on the tightly cramped patio. I mean each time we wanted to get up from our table, the people at the table next to us also had to move, just so we could get up. The food was blah. Our group tried the tacos, dry...and had to request salsa twice, the nachos w/chicken...for an extra two dollars...we should have gotten wayyyyyyy more chicken, chicken skewers w/fried plantains (plantains fried WAY to hard)...and two bowls of moqueca which consisted of two shrimp, two scallops and 4 mussels....but IMO was the best part of the meal. The watiress, while friendly was forgetful, didnt check on us nearly enough and did I mention....FORGETFUL!! After being served our food, she didnt bring one person in our party their food, we waited about 15 mins, and then I had to go and find her and say....hey...we are missing one plate of food, tacos w/out the cilantro.....when she finally brought them 10 mins after I asked her about the food, it was LOADED down with cilantro. Drink wise, We tried the mojiots (tradional and mango) good, but too much mint for my liking, texas maragaritas w/Jose Cuervo...cost $2 more than the house brand, but so worth it...and some cocanut thingsy, that were unimpressive...and she bought my mother out a hot Budweiser....now not being a beer drinker, even I know that you dont serve a person hot beer. Only my date and I went to salsa...and I think the salsa dance floor holds about 16 people comfortably, and after that its just way to crowded. But I will admit the band they had was GREAT!! Got our check and we were overcharged for a mojito...and on top of that the added on gratuity (20%) came up to $30, which i didnt think we received $30 worht of service at all....Normally, I tip over the added on gratuity, but not this time. In short, go here for the drinks, and good music, and friendly atompherse...but eat somewhere else!!!
by Laure Zercher on This is where the party kids come when the clubs shut down. Seriously. This place was a co-worker's recommend and we trusted her because she used to live in the area. So off we went. Reviews mentioned long waits...and a club atmosphere?? Haha ... right ... maybe for dinner. Nope...brunch too. People got DRESSED UP for this joint! OMG. Seriously. We didn't have a reservation so we waited. I think we waited about 45 minutes before being seated. Despite the loud music and the shouting, the hostess was perfectly lovely to us. We sat down and ordered the eggs benedict and the breakfast frittata. The food was okay. Nothing to write home about. My side of bacon was burnt but I choked it down anyway because I'm a sucker for pork products and we'd already done enough waiting for the day. But it was nice they also gave us a basket of 3 (for 2 of us...did they want us to fight?) hot biscuits served with two types of jelly and butter. That was a great start to our meal. As were the bottomless mimosas. They have three versions: traditional (OJ+Bubbly), pomegranate and combo. And the servers are really good about keeping them COMING. We had our fair share of booze for brunch... The loud music was also super fun. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. It was fun swaying to the music because you really couldn't do that much talking unless you were all up in your friend's grillz. Warning: Be ready to be asked to leave if you've already paid your tab and are just sitting around chit-chatting. When they get busy, I guess that's what they have to resort to. And BOY were they busy. Make reservations - you'll be glad you did.
by Liana Zable on I was here for an office party, so I really have no idea how much we spent, but I think it was a lot. Drinks are expensive here, no lie. The appetizers were the best part of the meal, the tiger shrimp in sweet chili cilantro sauce is really good. I think the best thing of the eveing. Then we had some plates of sushi and sashimi; it was all of excellent quality, and showed in the taste of each piece. I was rather disappointed with the entree's we had, the chicken was good, but the salmon and fillet were both rather lackluster. They were all cooked well but the flavor profiles were off. And I am sure they were not inexpensive either. deserts were also good, but at that point a lot of sensation in my mouth had left the building, but there were crme brle, chocolate cakes and something else. I really like chocolate, so I enjoyed it a decent amount. We sat in one of the booths to the left of the Buddha, the table is inset to the ground, which is fine for guys, but if there are ladies in the group with skirts, watch out! And the cushions kept getting pushed out, it seems like a serious design flaw. The service was also not that great, I am sure there was a fee discussed before hand so everyone was happy, but I order drinks no less than 5 times and got none. The day after I was happy that I was prematurely cut-off, but at the time I was not pleased. I would rather pay $$$$ and have fabulous food rather than pay $$$$ to be around alleged fabulous people. And you can barely see these fabulous people in the dark cavern. That is my thought at least. The space is cool in the light and I am glad I have been there, but that is enough for me. The restrooms here are pretty legit, they have several private stalls/rooms, and one huge ADA stall. At the sink you can see and hear into the other restroom, so be careful while talking in the bathroom. There is an attendant, so bring some $1's, be they ensure that everything is stocked. 4 Flushes
