On the eve of August 26th, The Edison was showing a silent film which portrayed a Caucasian man playing an Asian man. I am 99.9% sure that the film is "Broken Blossoms" or "The Yellow Man and the Girl" (1919). My husband and friends had the best seats in the lounge. We had a sofa that gave us a full view of the band and the screen. In between the acting scenes, the storyline consisted of racist terms such as "Chinky" and "Yellow Man." I'm sure there were more, but those are the ones I remembered. I appreciate The Edison for its ambiance; however, I DO NOT believe in paying $200+ in drinks while having racist terms regarding my race displayed in front of me. Sure, things were different back then, but I'm sure The Edison could've chosen another "Asian" film or edited the movie. After talking to the manager, he told me to contact the COO. I wrote an email at 3 am the next day to her and even 'cced the manager. It's been 5 days and still no response. I'm guessing that she either overlooked my email or doesn't feel that this is an important issue to respond to. The Edison, don't expect another penny from me or my friends.

A must do! It's becoming too much of a hipster hangout, so it's lost a bit of it's edge. But, doesn't really matter. The drinks are cheap. The "dancers" add an uncertainty to the evening. A words of warning: It is a smokefest inside, and poorly ventilated. Dress/breathe accordingly. A must for friends from out of town.

Maybe this place is completely different when it's not the holiday season - I hope so. Because when I stopped by in early December, I couldn't get out of there fast enough. It was Corporate Holiday Party Hell. The staff was stressed out and rude. The vibe was uncomfortable, awkward and unwelcoming. This club-lounge-bar-bowling alley misses on all attempts. Maybe I'll try again after the holiday - but honestly there are many better options in the city.
