I went here to take out a new hire for dinner. The rooftop is awesome although I was a bit confused as to why there were taiko drummers there that night as it clashes with the Mediterranean theme of the restaurant restaurant. After hanging out on the roof for a bit, my group went downstair to eat dinner inside. I had the seared scallops with potato -- $14. A little too pricey for six scallops and about 2 spoonfulls of potato puree. This next part is where it gets interesting. We waited 20 minutes to have our order taken. It took another 20 minutes to get the food to our table. I never got my drink filled the entire time. Also, we asked our waiter at the beginning to split the bill for business purposes, and he said he would. He didn't --honest mistake right? Well afterwards, he split the bill wrong as he was rushing. Poor guy. Then someone from our party yelled at him for being an "idiot," which I thought was a little uncalled for. You don't get good service by being pissy with the help. After several attempts of correcting the bill situation, he failed to give someone their $19 change. We tell him, and he gives us a $20 since he was obviously annoyed with our group. Well, we wanted to leave him a tip so we asked him to give the proper change, so we could leave him a tip. Yeah not happening. We just went to bar area to get change and left it on the table. All in all, a very awkward experience as one of the members of our party was a little too much, but the waiter should've stopped, slowed down, collected himself, and figured it out. He should've also apologized for the mistake and clarified what we were asking for. With the just-OK food and a waiter who lacks the skills to handle a large party that has an irate individual, I give this place 2.5 stars downgraded to 2 since they really don't deserve a 3. Not so sure I'll ever host a company outing here again...

I was brought here not having any clue about this place, just that it was called "The Gold Room".  At first I thought they were referring to the new Aurum Lounge, but they are separate places with two equivalent names, and both of them have opened very recently. This place is located in the Lindbergh Area, and apparently used to be a strip club.  Coming in here, I can totally see how it used to be.  Apparently the owners are trying to distance themselves from the strip club aspect and make it a pure nightclub, but they can't escape how the club has been built.  First off, there are big bouncer dudes outside and a check-in area to pay cover, which COULD be nightclub-ish but just gives off a stripclub vibe. The inside is very, very nice.  On the night I went, I paid a $10 cover, but I heard the prices varying from free to $20, so I have no clue.  There are a few VIP-looking tables/areas as well, but none of them were enforced the day I went.  The upstairs area looks down into the main floor through glass windows, and I guess that could be converted to a VIP lounge if necessary.  The main lounge downstairs has a very cool bar area with multiple huge TVs playing in the background and a lot of nice liquor bottles being backlit. The music was relatively good... it wasn't super generic club music but it wasn't anything special either.  This place doesn't seem TOO conducive to dancing... I think the crowd preferred to bob their heads and shuffle their feet but there wasn't too much outright dancing like in other clubs.  More like a people-watching venue, but not in a super pretentious way. The crowd was very good looking, probably one of the best overall average looks places I've seen in Atlanta so far.  Then again, I've only gone once so please don't take my word for it. The only thing taking it down from 5 stars is that it is pricey as expected for a club (cocktails for 8-10 bucks, beers for 5-6 bucks) and it's not diverse.  There were a few black people here and there, but it's mostly white.  I was the only asian person i saw there all night, except for the bartender asian girl. Still, this place is worth checking out at least once.  Great ambiance, venue, etc.

Went here a couple of times based on a friends recommendation and it definitely was worth it. Interesting menu that provides a wide variety of choices backed up by very good quality of food... decent beer selection... Probably my favorite place to grab a bite around South Street...
