Went here on a Saturday 80's night and was already way tipsay. Bartenders were not douchey - always a plus. Considering ain't really my scene, had a good time, except - I kid you not - there is a GINORMOUS mosquito in the corner that kinda fahreaked me out. Other than that, good times.

My kind of reserved table at a bar is when I walk into my neighborhood pub and, if busy, the bartender saves the next open stool or table without even asking me if I am hanging for a few drinks. (He knows. He just knows.) So when I walk into a place like this for a night cap at 11pm (barney=loser) I get a little tweaked by a half empty place with a bunch of reserved tables. I get even more tweaked by my more positive side seeing the bar is half full (of dbags) But spotting us as a departure from their typical (aka young) crowd, a waitress did let us use one of the tables for a few drinks because they were really reserved for 'much later' Yeah, I suck Cool waitress aside, these types of places are starting to feel a little 'forced' - they force the music, force the 'loungey vibe', and the clientele force the cool factor - and to me cool, loungey is the opposite of forced. So by 1130 barney was much more cool and lounged out on the couch in his room watching Sportscenter. Which immediately makes whiskey park a more popular place for most of you, huh?

Solid breakfast choices, but Carman's is quite small inside so come during the week and you won't have an insane wait. I had the omelette with Ohio river turtle, which was quite tasty and unique. I imagine each day brings some sort of special which is unlike anything you've had for brunch in the northeast. I would have given it 4 stars but they lose an entire star for serving tropicana orange juice out of a bottle. The water in Mason jars is authentic (like my grandma used to do on the farm!) but pre-packaged OJ? Too much cognitive dissonance for me. 3 stars.
