by Lucretia Adolphe on Where Douchebaggery meets 6th Street Bro-ness and a sprinkle of skanks. I used to like Pure. They used to offer top shelf liquor for $1, $2 for doubles, on Thursdays. That was about a year and a half ago. It used to be THE go-to place to get our evenings started on Thursday. Since they stopped that special, I've stopped visiting. Other than a good drink special, there's no reason to visit the place. It's as tacky on the inside as it is on the outside. So are most of the visitors (ZING!). It totally doesn't fit in with the collegiate spirit of 6th st. It sticks out like a sore thumb. The fake 'posh' interior is very superficial and attracts the type of clientele that appreciate such decor. To their credit, they mix drinks well but the 3 floor layout creates for a lack of centralization. The only real dance floor is on the 3rd floor but the music is terrible. The DJs love a bad mash-up and old school hip-hop that is barely danceable. Overall the place is just not worth the long line to get into.
by Bernie L. on I don't know if it means all that much, but I want to preface this with the fact that I don't really like going clubbing or dancing, usually. I've been wanting to check out Bootie ever since Party Ben had the sixxmixx on Live 105, but I hadn't made it out until recently. and it was a great time. the music is generally good, but there was also a LOT LOT LOT of people watching. I'd never been to a club with such an interesting mix of characters. Everything from the drunk kid who looked like a 20-yr-old Bill Gates who was macking on everyone who had boobs to the woman in a leopard-print dress about 2 sizes to small dancing on top of a crate and occasionally having a nip slip or crotch flash to the crowd, with the night ending with her falling on her ass, literally (she was okay, btw). I also thought the house band they had was pretty awesome, even though I had some pretty low expectations, they played a really fun set, and I imagine they are generally pretty fun. Lastly, they have absinthe. Not the best quality, but still pretty cool. All in all, a fun night. and you should definitely check it out.
