We saw Brandi Carlile and her band play here. We took BART and walked and the walk wasn't too bad from the station. It doesn't look like much from the outside. The neighborhood is kind of sketchy and not place to hang around outside for long. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior. Very beautiful and intimate. We snagged a table up front and the band was right in front of us. They sound was great and Brandi Carlile Band is always amazing live. I had a fancy cosmo like mixed drink that was tasty and strong. I didn't try the food but our friend's had some nachos which looked pretty good. If you are looking for a good place to eat before the show try Golden Era which is delicious Asian vegetarian food just a few blocks away.

First things first. The decor was very trendy and hip. It's totally cute how everything was flipped upside down - everything from the logo to the cushioned seats. I loved the pretty frames on the walls - the two framed televisions were so chic. I was amused by the Korean bbq burger with kimchi slaw, which was the burger of the day. Next time I'm at Flip, I would love to try it. Turkey burger: Alfalfa sprouts, avocado, pomegranate ketchup, turkey burger. It was splendid. Alfalfa sprouts on a burger, who knew? The avocado was good - it had a slight lemony taste which I liked (probably to keep the avocado from turning brown.) The only thing I was disappointed in was the pomegranate ketchup - couldn't really taste the pomegranate flavor. Buns were toasted perfectly - my burger buns weren't greasy as previous rateclubsers claimed. Milkshake ! I was dying to try pistachio and white truffle shake but our (cute) waiter told me it's off the menu for now (due to the whole peanut fiasco going on.) I will try it upon my next trip to Flip. Anyways - I tried the Krispy Kreme milkshake. It wasn't as sweet as I wanted it to be. It tasted like a plain unsweet vanilla shake with crumby chunks in it. It was alright. 3/5? I suppose. Finally, I ordered the fried okra which was good and tasted better than my friend's order of french fries. Total came up to be $19.50-ish including tip. Yeah, it costs more than your average burger and shake meal from Steak and Shake but I didn't mind at all, unlike my friend who kept complaining that she got gypped. I will probably have to work out like crazy to get rid of all the calories I gained today but it was worth it. ****EDIT: So I checked my bank account online just now - seems like the waiter charged me exactly 20% when I paid 15%. I'm not sure I'm pleased with that; we weren't notified earlier. I wish they would just include the tip amount on the receipt before they make us pay. OH and I wasn't also pleased with the waiter accidentally charging me for my food and my friend's as well. This wouldn't be a problem if the waiter didn't charge my friend on his debit card - well, he did. Such a frustrating issue. Knocked off a star 'cuz of these problems. *****EDIT, again: So all the bank issues got resolved like 4 days after. But for some reason, I don't want to return to Flip again after this fiasco. Too bad, I really wanted to like it and be a big fan.
