this is your typical prime rib upscale restaurant.  definitely a good place to go to if you want good quality prime rib.  we did the special, salad/soup, meat, and dessert for 35/pp.  i was here with colleagues and the ambiance was nice.  made me feel like i was in an old 40s nightclub w/ the leatherette booths. although we heard it was jacket required, we were all pretty casual since i work for a software start up.  we were mostly in jeans but nice jeans so not sure if that made a difference. i would recommend prime rib for those who would like a good quality meal.  i probably will not come back to this restaurant though since it is one of those been there, done that off of my list. the restaurant is located inside the crown plaza or was it the holiday inn (i think) and it was very festively decorated.

I was a fan of this club. We actually met and chatted with the DJ, and the staff was very kind. Though $5 mandatory valet isn't that cool, it does keep your car safe and saves some hassle when it's cold outside. The club has plenty of bar and dance floor space. The music was very danceable and nostalgic with tasteful hip-hop, dance and top 40 hits from then and now. Granted, I was pretty drunk and with a group of wonderful friends - my memory of the venue is definitely a little biased towards that. But I can say that nothing about the venue turned me off one bit as far as enjoying a buzzed clubbing night out. I can easily add this spot to my list of clubs I like along with MBarGo, Amnesia, Sky Club, Delux Lounge, Club V, Elysium, etc. But the nice thing about this place was that it had the swank and classy lair type feeling without the patrons reflecting that too much. Folks here were pretty sharp looking but also down to earth, a diverse mix reflective of metro Detroit. Probably a good amount of Royal Oak and Ferndale hipsters mixed in with suburbanites from my way as well. Ferndale is pretty accessible off I-75 for east and west siders and those coming from Detroit, which is nice. Drink prices were good for beer (about $3-$4) but cocktails bordered on a little pricier ($8-10). My only gripe was that no smoking ban has taken effect here, so it did get a little smoky in the bar area, and I don't like coming home with smoky smelling clothes. Some nights are busier than others, and so on slower nights they just open up the more intimate basement section, and on busier nights the main floor is open.

The Majestic was the first restaurant I ate at when I moved to Atlanta eight years ago. Of course I was staying at the Clairmont, so who knows what my judgement then was based on...however, it still remains the very best place to "end up." So I drank the Righteous Room to bed and headed over with the last remaining booze companion to finish the night off  with cheese and corned beef hash on my  french fries...The place is always great for people watching. Especially if you enjoy seeing folks come out of nightclubs in the last throes of partying, clinging desperately to their fishnet stockings, smeared lipstick, and beer stained t-shirts. Gotta love it. Not to mention the food is perfect hangover landing gear at a great price with swift, consistent, "no nonsense" service. The Majestic by the way is just that, majestic. Another 24 hour institution.
