by Rickie Rosales on What an insult to pub's! From the outside it looked like a festive place to grab a pint, not so! There's lots of televisions and bimbo waitresses but nothing you couldn't find in any other sports bar in the country. The female bartenders (I only saw female bartenders), had spandex so tight I could tell what she had for breakfast, I guess underwear isn't a health code requirement when serving drinks? After 9pm it looks like an underage brothel, the door goons have attitudes and think they're in Snottsdale. Avoid this place at all costs, I would recommend Margaritaville right behind it.
by Columbus Mintz on Well this is the thing... Compared to Vanguard, is more roomy and big, there is no fear of suffocation as you would feel in Vanguard. But Douche-bagery is like the ultimate crowd (similar to Vanguard). You can find all types of douches over there. If you have been there, then you'll know what I mean, lots of 50 year old pervs here and there. The girls (I mean the grandmas), in their platform shoes, and big size shirts, or mini size dresses. Lots of morons, countless morons all over the place not knowing how to dance, mostly knocking down the people around them. ****************** I had to go today, because Roger Sanchez was spinning, he was on of my to-do list djs! The three stars go to him and only! Because, he's almost like a god of house. Spins and drives you nuts on the dance floor. Even when you haven't drank anything (me). I had great time dancing under his tribal mixes. If you haven't seen him live, you better go when he's in town. ******* As far about Avalon itself, rip-off is understatement. Parking $20.00 (whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat????) Red Bull $6.00 Bottle of water $5.00 Tequila Sunrise $8.00 (this was cheap for a cocktail drink and in Hollywood) Bouncers; LA bouncers, angelinos know what I mean, not the friendliest creatures that you'll encounter. ********** Fun night! Roger is awesome! Go Avalon if and only if there is someone like Roger. Otherwise, you can totally avoid the douchey crowd experience and go somewhere funner like; WeHo, or SaMo. Cheers to Roger.
by Michelle F. on Again, a place that the website said was open at six on Sunday. We bring friends from out of town. Six of us, only to find out it is not open at all. grrrrrr. Of course, then I heard it is quite pricey to bowl, so, I think I will stick to the 'hood bowling alley on my side of town...
