There are many reviews of this place at the extremes: five stars and one star. Here is a different view. The food was good but not great. I used a Groupon. At that price, I was satisfied with the quality of the cuisine. At double the price, I would not have been. They actually are good about addressing food restrictions. My wife is a pesce-vegetarian and gluten-free, and they were sensitive to it. The setting is why you would go. There isn't any need for me to repeat: it's beds, big beds with lots of pillows and a little tiny table you can perch plates on. It's relaxing and weird. The entertainment is, well, of varied quality. The night we went there was Willie Wonka (the original) playing on a big screen, with the sound off; a deejay; and a giant, blue, high-heeled, bearded, gay, Jewish (he mentioned that and had one group singing along with him on folk songs in Yiddish), cocktail-swilling bunny -- probably seven feet tall with the ears. He sang one number and otherwise visited the guests, climbing onto their beds. Was it the best experience I've ever had dining out? No, not by a long shot. Was it the worst? No, not by a long shot. Was it the strangest? Yes, without question. So if this scene is what you want to try, go for it. I'm glad I went, so I can say I went.

I only went to the Skye once on Mar 6th to see deadmau5. Presales were only $10, which is half of the Vanguard in LA for any act. We accidentally waited in line for the upscale club next door, when we got to the front the bouncer was like 'are you on the guestlist' i respond, half drunkenly, half kidding saying "no, but we should be" ... the guy takes offense asking 'Oh ya? why the hell should you be?" goodamn! i gots tickets man! i just wanna see the mau5! so after being redirected to the right line, we get in and buy some more drinks as the opening dj spins away to an empty dance floor save an older hippie burner couple. The inside of this place is beautiful, excellent lighting & sound as well. People started congregating around 1230 in suspense of the coming phat beats to be dropped. The visualizations on the screen could have been more interesting but i wasnt on a good one so i guess it didnt matter. The crowd was overwhelmingly... male, and old.... i totally agree with whoever made the comment about the zombie suits circling the dance floor. The female situation was sad and meager, but such is the nature of living in San Francisco. The mau5 threw it fucking down! i danced my ass off. James Zabiela was meh, poor track selection IMHO. Snuck on stage just as he was finishing and got to meet the one and only Steve fuckin Duda! brain child of BSOD. Took pics and drank free red bull till a bouncer finally came over and asked where my wristband was. I immediately leave the stage but my friend Sina says he had taken his off and got to stay. Lasted till 330 which i was surprised by, but as the night wore on the limited number of females slowly dissipated to a cock fiesta. They opened up the VIP after 2 i believe so my buddy from socal and i sat and chilled back there. All in all, the Ruby Skye is a really nice club for us EDM heads. I would only ever go to see a particular dj or producer. the price of presales is more than worth it.
