Venues with long, steep staircases upon entry kind of worry me. It's an obstacle that reminds me to keep my booze intake to a reasonable level so as not to go tumbling forward or backward upon exit. And that's a bummer in an awesome venue like Cafe Du Nord which keeps a ton of awesome beers, most of them from San Diego (WHAT WHAT) on tap. Racer 5, Lost Abbey... on and on... great brews. There's plenty of room to wander and watch the show while still keeping an intimate, dark space for a good show experience. I thought the sound was great, too. The woods and all really break up the waves.

I was here for the Savant Garde Fashion Show 3/27. The place was filled with an artsy crowd and runway models (who were changing in public, which was nice). The art-gallery decor sets a cool tone for the show and dj after-party. The clothing and costumes in the show were entertaining. Fun early-evening place to go before the club. And I saw a guy wearing my suit! I mean, how often do you run into another guy wearing the same suit as you - and at a fashion show, no less.
