This place is pretty cool. The music was good. What was really good are 2 drinks that I tried. They had this pineapple infused vodka that you can have as a shot or a cocktail and the Polk Punch ($5) I think I had a way too many but hey it was a good time. I couldn't tell you how the crowd was since we had our holiday function there. I would so come back. Highly recommend the Polk Punch... YUM!

Only in Hollywood can you get away with having such an opulent and spectacular venue...right across the street from a ghettoriffic McDonald's plaza and a Patron billboard the size of a New York skyscraper. It was literally like having dinner at a billionaire's house...with snooty furniture, exquisite chandeliers, and bookcases galore. Uniforms are adorable, runners/bussers wear pin stripe shirts with suspenders, servers wear a vest like corset...maybe it was the standard at XIV...maybe not..but our server barely cracked a GROWL the entire night...much less a smile....she was probably running audition lines through her head.... It was a little James Bond-y with doors that doubled as walls, only when employees would tap certain places, knock twice and then push...would it finally magically open....but nonetheless, very cool...the hallway leading from the entrance to the host stand is just entirely stainless steel. Presentation was incredible also, 4 runners would come by for every course for our party of 4, in a criss cross pattern for optimal douchiness..you know. I was surprised that we were seated at such a coveted table....along the aisle across from the bar, at a table that had a comfy leather couch with animal fur pillows and two divine chairs. Two tops actually gave us withering looks. Appetizers: Tataki of wagyu beef skirt steak: SOOOOO flavorful and well marinated..I didn't even care that it was medium rare, it was delicious. Sweet corn soup w/ pork belly: The soup was presented dry at first, and runners would present a dish that looked like it was meant for coffee creamer, and then poured the cream soup into the bowl. Very creamy, well seasoned, lotsa butter. Pork belly was amazing. Entree: -Asparagus risotto: My poor two friends made the mistake of ordering the "model meal". Seriously, the risotto portion was 2 tablespoons, in a gravy bowl...oh oh oh...and a shaved down asparagus spear. Yum. Delicious. Oh...and who could forget the dollops of FOAM on top. Apparently foam was the mission statement for XIV. Every course we had...at least 2 dishes contained foam. Differently flavored foam...but foam nonetheless. I didn't know if we were at dinner in an actual restaurant...or submerged in a cup of cappuccino!! -Jidori chicken: More then compensated for how microscopic the risotto portion was....it was brought out in 2 dishes, for goodness sake. A bowl with 2 succulent, tender breast pieces surrounded by the "fixings" and another dish with at least 2 cups of jasmine rice with bits of delicious jidori chicken skin mixed in. No joke...sounds weird, but tasted delicious. Dessert: -Root beer float with warm chocolate chip cookies: the only thing that.....DIDN'T have foam!!!! The one thing that you would expect to have foam right?!?! Not a single frothy bubble.... -Nutella Custard: Disappointing...again..with the foam?!!? A sour, not pleasant tasting foam at that....basically tasted like watered down pumpkin cheesecake stuffed into a cup. No nutella taste whatsoever. -Dark chocolate cake: Interesting..the cake came out..and it was 16 inches long..and 1.5 inches wide. Good job at deceiving the eyes to divert our concentration, guys. The peanut thing..that I can only describe as paste...not brittle....was the most DELICIOUS thing ever. It was amaaazing and have never had it anywhere else. The coconut sorbet was excellent, very coconutty? ~Sidenote: I was very disappointed that they did not have their famous jasmine ice cream with cashew shortbread that was originally on their DineLA menu. I was excitedly anticipating this night and had scoured their DineLA menu via the web...as well as their a la carte menu.....and this was the only thing I was really looking forward to, and alas....no mas. It is because of these kinds of restaurant that DineLA makes me feel warm in my nether areas....it's definitely somewhere you want to try...but it would probably take hundreds of dollars and multiple visits in order to gauge whether or not you like it. DineLA allows you to have 3 courses for a great price...and bringing friends just make the choices even more unlimited. If they did DineLA next year with different items, I would definitely consider it....but seeing that it's on Sunset in W. Hollywood....it'll probably be a different restaurant by this time next year......

Yet another hollywood club/bar with potential that falls far below the mark. The place itself is decently decorated and gives a good atmosphere. Unfortunately since the new management have taken over, you get the impression that a majority of the people there are "invited friends". Which just create this feeling like you are crashing someone house party, a very crappy house party with expensive drinks and horrible djing. Yes, the music was the worst part. I felt as if i had time traveled back to a middle school dance. Avoid this place unless you want a wasted night.
