by Tempie Saniatan on As much as I would like to send Beauty Bar a bill for my knee-surgery-to-come from all the dancing I do there, I love the place too much and would hate to contribute to yet another business going under. So i'll deal with the pain and keep dancing. This place is just great. I've danced with Gary Numan, been felt up by a tranny, and dancewiched by 3 or more gay guys. It happens. But it's beauty bar, so it's okay right? Upon entering the front gate on 7th street you'll walk through the outside area and into the sauna of the dance floor. Crazy Lights, Awesome Dance music, and the most bizzarre mix of people you'll ever encounter. I never drink anything but PBR Tallboys, and still manage to break the bank. Dance hard or go home is the mission at BB. Honestly, the one and ONLY complaint I have about this place...ventilation. I sweat a lot, I'm 6'1 and 265 lbs moving in ways I shouldn't, but seriously, that place is stuffy. I walk outside and if it's cooler than 50 degrees, I steam. Quite literally. I will gladly introduce to any of my friends, they'll be more than happy to recount it to you. Be that as it may, I've never had to worry about it getting cold in there. Disclaimer: Don't waste your time going early in the week unless there's a show you're interested in or feel like being a social butterfly with the other 10 people that MIGHT be there for the same reason. Your call. Don't knock it till you tried it.
by Britney C. on I went on a Saturday night when it's Gossip. 80's music and the crowd was goth/grunge. Older crowd too which I liked. It wasn't my vibe but I made the best of it. The venue is pretty long with a room in the back. The room in the back smelled of piss though. I went for a friend's friend's birthday so we had a table and bottle service. Can't go wrong with free liquor! It's right next to Icon so if you want more of the hip-hop thing you can go next door.
