when the girls made a reservation here, i wish I had remembered that we came here last time I made it out to the city. The word that comes to mind when I come here is "Wanky". By that, I mean that it is lots of suits etc. after work and kind of a maybe upscale PF Changs. The music was cheesy and it was an amazing feat to see how heavy the kitchen could make dishes that I would expect to be light, like sushi, lettuce wraps, salad. The koi pond was cool and the decor was intriguing, but it seemed artificial. Regardless, it was good to spend some time with my girls and the waitstaff was nice.

Waitstaff and Management: Just Plain Rude, No people or management skills...I imagine this attitude must trickle down from the owners. They all need a lesson in manners and hospitality! Saturday night 6 PM....Most of our group of 25, 7 of us from NYC and the rest guests from Canada came early so we could all be together. We took over the "Back Fence" bench seating area of the bar...a few more of our friends straggling in through the evening and were at a table in front of the bench. Drinking beer, eating peanuts, visiting, listening to the music...having fun and minding our own business. First thing out of the waitress's mouth...I get a 20% tip here. Two hours later, "the rude manager bloke with attitude before we said a word" tells us we can't sit there because he needs the tables for couples when they walk in, he starts pulling out folding chairs and tries to rally us around 3 tiny tables.....we ask politely why? We've been sitting there 2 hours. He tells us and I quote "if you don't like it you can all leave, I will fill this place up whether you are here or not" All 20 of our Canadian friends (5 left on the bench) reluctantly stand up from their comfortable spots...pick up their coats and move to the folding chairs and holding their drinks because the tables are too small for all of our drinks to sit... 30 minutes later....20 of the 25 leave...this guy ended the evening for us....1 hour later...the bench had 2 couples sitting there.... Back Fence Bar is a NYC attempt at a southern peanut beer bar...but they're missing the southern hospitality.......the only thing that was good there was the music. None of us will go back and I will rateclubs to everyone I know about how bad this place was.
