VooDoo Lounge at the Rio - About Us
Located high up on the Rio suites tower, it offers a great view and occasionally good live entertainment.
Since the Voodoo Lounge opened its doors, other nightspots have come along to claim their view is the best in Vegas, but the original party in the sky continues to innovate and redefine itself to stay on top of the Vegas nightlife scene.
There is no dance floor but a nice outdoor patio where you can look out on to the city. The crowd is less pretentious than you will find at some of the other outdoor lounges. The line can get wicked on a weekend night but the views are great and you will have a good time.

Its hard for me to give this place only 3 stars. this was my second home for years, and I have so many good memories from this place. I just DESPISE the management as they ruined this place. Roxy was the place to be on saturday for decades, and they turned it into a latin night, than a gay night, and now its 'royale", but it isnt the same. I cant even go now, as its not the same crowd. The roxy had a cult following. you saw a lot of the same people there every week, and we became like family. you also saw a lot of new faces which was great, and it was always a good time. DJ adilson was a big reason. he is not the most skilled dj in the world, but he played good songs, and knew how to get the people jumping. he played mostly the same songs week to week, till the newer stuff came out, and than hed play the new good stuff, mixed in with some older classic house. The club is GORGEOUS. it was a ballroom, and it doesnt get much nicer. big red curtains, the mezzanine has vip sections all over, and it had a nice 2 tier dance floor with plenty of space. I think the Roxy shut down because there was lots of drug dealing and drug consuming here. I saw a big 6'4 guy get walked out by the cops, and he was stumbling so bad, he could not walk more than a foot unassisted because he took horse tranquilizers. there were a lot of fights here too, and i always hated that, as Im not a fighter at all, but that happens in lots of clubs. Anyway, roxy or 'royale" is still a beautiful club, and im sure its still good on saturdays, but it doesnt compare to the roxy of old. those were good times:)

This is pretty virgin territory for me, so I'm not really qualified to make an accurate review that's relative to the gay club scene in the rest of San Francisco, but I write, anyway: On behalf of all the ladies out there to Club Dragon: THANK YOU. It's not our usual turf, but you are warm (sometimes hot) and so welcoming. Your (mainly Asian) men are far more gorgeous and sweeter than any standard vertical stripe collared shirt wearing hetero skuzz ball of an alpha male at any club in the vicinity of the SOMA district (and maybe . . . the country, in general). You have a cheap ass cover charge compared to the other pretentious clubs nearby, names of which will not be disclosed at said time. Your drinks are strong and tasty. Your bartenders are shirtless with bodies to justify it. Your DJs play awesome hip hop upstairs and house downstairs. And because it really does bear repeating - everyone is so friendly, so nice . . . are you REALLY a club/bar? Thank you thank you THANK YOU. xoxo, Addicted Newbie Straight Girl

Food
Don't eat any of the food here. Eat downstairs at the Village seafood buffet and then sit around and drink up stairs. They have updated the lounge chairs and the scene is a bit more upscale so relax and indulge high roller style.
