by Chanda I. on thank you for putting a classy japanese karaoke bar in capitol hill! much needed in the city. my raves: - OPEN LATE or rather SUPER LATE for the city of Seattle establishments! - happy hour: m-th 4-8 & all day sunday - this includes discount on the price of renting the room - they have an iPad to search the songs - selection of songs is insane! they offer books in many different languages, not just asian ones, (my friends were able to get songs in Russian). Just ask a server for one of the books you want. - decor - modern and the rooms are comfy - can CALL in to make RESERVATIONS - FOOD they mixed my japanese pub and comfort food with american food. i tried things like japanese kaarage (tiny pieces of fried chicken), Japanese mac n cheese (panko break crumbs and katsu sauce), japanese fries with curry sauce poured over them! also have spam musubi (seaweed, spam, rice, egg), a healthy spring roll, and other japanese snacks. yum- they have made a hybrid of all the fatty japanese food with american classics making this dangerously delicious and to give you the energy to keep on singin. Drinks- they have a selection of nice cocktails and sake which i did not try because i only got happy hour drinks. happy hour drinks included well drinks, premium, draft beers for $3.5, sangria for $5, and sake. karaoke warning: japanese style of karaoke can be dangerous and dangerously fun! each person pays by the hour. so you mix drinking, eating, singing with your good friends and time just flies by and that can add up on $$$. so either expect to spend some money or keep track on what you are doing.
by Kate F. on Yes, I am biased because I went to Marquee under special circumstances, but I had an excellent time. Nice bartenders, hot and friendly staff, good drinks (though I can't help it - I think $12 drinks and $8 beer is stupid), a fun mix of old and new music, comfortable set up upstairs (the only area I spent any time in) with room to dance and lots of communal seating. Me likey.
