by Etsuko Dupuis on Stopped by here for Control for like 2hrs. Dance floor was nice and roomy, but people danced every where. Plenty of places to sit and catch a good breath. The bars are not extremely crowded. I think the bartenders are nice. Just tip well. Also, when you ask for water, sometimes they'll give you water in a cup or the bottled water for $5. Just be clear about the water you want, lol. I really loved the music! Great beats. Bouncers were nice. Will Call area was clearly separated from the general admission line so I don't know why some people are complaining about the confusion. It's on the right hand side. Also the entrance for people w/pre-sale tickets is a dark passageway next to where the bouncers check IDs past the will call line. The doors are black, just like the wall, and they can be easy to miss. Lol. Just look out for them. Parking is $20 if you park right in front of Avalon. Didn't want to walk far all the way to Argyle ($10). Ohh there are gropers. I wanted to step on their feet and make them feel the pain of my stilettos. But I missed. -_- I just removed their hands from me (I tried to painfully dig my nails into their skin) and ignored them and kept dancing. Stupid jerks! I would have said wth is wrong with you?! But the music was too loud and it was dark. Not really into this kind of thing, but when I'm in the mood to dance again, I'll probably go. It's good to go with a group of friends and just dance and not get drunk.
by Trula Malanga on So I make reservations in this Mission jazz joint for me and my lady on our birthdays. Hers was the Saturday mine was Sunday. We got there about 8, had some tasty Hors Dourves(sp?). and I had a series of Jack Daniels Neats(my favorite) I must say, the bartender there makes one helluva Jack Neat, If you haven't tried theirs it's a must! We went on to the meal. I wasn't feeling adventurous so I went with the burger. I t was tender juicy and the bun was amazing. I ate the heirloom tomatoes plain they were so good. We booked that night so we could see the cats from Jazz Mafia get down, and get down they did! Their sets gradually progressed from Jazz to funk through the night so by midnight we were on the dance floor after our meals. At about 1a.m. a funny thing happened, Stevie Motherflippin' Wonder walked in!!! at 1:30a.m. he got on the stage with Supertaster and rocked for a half hour starting with a few lines from non-other than HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and then moving into part time sucker and a few other tasty jams for about 70 of us who were there. i can't say enough about this place!!! Giving it 5 stars is 5 stars too few. Oh, and I heard sometimes Alphabet Soup plays there and they are my favorite SF Jazz group. More stars!
by Belinda S. on Small portions. Our waiter gave us the most horrific service possible. We had a party of 6, so they automatically took 18% gratuity anyways. It was my friend's birthday and she complained to the manager at the end of the meal and he didn't do anything about it, besides give a half-hearted "sorry". Too bad we paid for the jazz show tickets and couldn't get refunds, I will never spend a single penny there again. They also have a minimum 1 order per person during the jazz show too, which was ridiculous since we had just finished eating in their restaurant.
