by Ahmad Simek on This review is for Friday night. Vessel is a pretty good club for SF, and 3 stars is a mostly relative rating. Similar to Slide, it's a small club/lounge with some nice couches set up around the dance floor for table service. The music is a little more on the techno / house side, but there is a still a decent amount of top-40 hip hop. Bartenders were really nice and the drinks were decent but expensive. It took a while for the crowd to get going, but by 11:30 the dance floor was packed. I had a good experience with pretty much all the service staff, so plus points for Vessel. My girlfriends and I got to the club relatively early and hadn't decided if we wanted to go to Vessel or Infusion. The doormen were nice, honest, and informative - they told us that Vessel wasn't really crackin yet, but it would be by the time we got to Infusion. They offered us free cover and coat check, so we just stayed at Vessel and the night turned out to be pretty fun. The security & staff inside the club were also super nice, and on top of their cleaning-up-spilled-drinks-and-broken-glass game. Overall, I'd probably come to Vessel again - it's easy to get to, the service staff is actually nice, the drinks are okay, and they have a full dance floor with decent music.
by Loren John B. on After paying $5 for cover, I came into hipster central expecting hip hop and r&b music being played, especially since my friend looked up the even for the evening. The moment I walk in, one room has an empty DJ booth and in the other room was some DJ trying to drum and and mix at the same time. Wasn't even coherent music. Huhm. There goes my 5 bucks. Then again I was likely misinformed. Some other time Minna. Some other time.
