I never thought this place would be awesome. Not that it looked bad, just... I just didn't expect it to be awesome. There was dancing, seating, and decently priced drinks. Added bonus, the bartenders were more drunk than me...always makes for a good time. There was a good mix of people, and no one was pretentious or lame. Could this be a happy hour spot? Hmmm....

South City Kitchen is FANTASTIC! The setting is so very classy, quaint and cozy, just oozes with sophistication with those lilly white table cloths on those intimate little tables. As soon as I sit down at the table, without a shadow of a doubt I have to start off with the chicken livers and carmelized onions appetizer for starters. Yum! The buttermilk fried chicken is by far numero uno with me. Wouldn't want to eat all of that everyday unless you want to have congestive heart failure and your cholesterol to go through the roof...LOL...but I always make an exception for this restaurant and this dish. Of course they have many other things on the menu, but this is just my favorite. South City Kitchen is definitely a nice romantic place to take date also.

It's a good last resort place to go if your plans to club elsewhere fall apart. Why? No cover... at least on Friday. The upstairs is pretty chill and nicely decorated, but no to the weird house music going off. I like house, but the I wasn't feeling the music they were playing at the time. The downstairs is crackin' because of all the hip hop and r&b music being played. The thing is its super cramped and I swear it looks like some sort of cave. Yep, complete with a low ceiling and not much room to move around since its a narrow area. Not to mention its super stuffy in there with all that body heat. The crowd was into the music, but sweet Jesus some people need to get a room. I saw a bunch of couples/strangers-who-likely-just-met-on-the-dance -floor making out. That and more couples were freak dancing against the walls. On top of that there were moments when the music sounded like a mix from Wild 94.9's wild workout at noon or 5 o'clock traffic jam. In essence it felt like a junior high school dance. I can do without that. So free cover and decent music. Don't wear a jacket or long sleeves downstairs or else you'll sweat just standing there. Just a fair warning.
