I went to Greenhouse on New Years Eve & I had sooooooooo much! I walked right in (no problems) the bouncers & the promoter at the door were extremely nice. It was pretty crowded inside but hey it was New Years Eve. The music was great. The drinks were great (strong & not too much ice). You could never go wrong with open bar all night. I would definitely go back. I had a BLAST!!!!!

I may need to go back to this place again when I'm sober to really feel solid about reviewing it, but here goes: Saturday night, 8:30 - some unknown hour when I unfortunately had to be carried out (don't ask). B+ crowd, some A-ses, a few even in heels and evening wear. Whoppee, San Francisco. The best thing about the place is the lush decor: it's dusky and velvety, with a lot of deep reds, and the lighting was nice and dim. We reserved seating for eleven, which turned out to be a small table upstairs surrounded by subtly uncomfortable (too deep) couches and a whole lot of drink menus. It would have been nice if the hostess could have informed us that they only serve light tapas when we reserved for dinner, but as it was, the food they did have wasn't bad. Try the orzo salad. The infused caviar on weird little pancakes sucked, but the salad with goat cheese and cranberries was good. I didn't have champagne, but they had some nice 10 year Glenmorangie so I drank a couple glasses of that. Plus some vodka shots I shouldn't have let myself get pressured into drinking. (It *was* my birthday celebration so I forgive myself. You should, too.) The service is slow. The bartender was a chick who didn't know how to crank 'em out. The music got too loud for conversations (upstairs is supposed to be the lounge, right?), and I saw a bachelorette party in the corner. Oh, I see. It's that kind of place. Downstairs is the dance area, and they had a fan on to try to help with the ventilation and stuffiness. I don't remember much about the downstairs. But I was told in the aftermath that the deejay was experiencing some technical difficulty and they had to pump in some pre-fab muzak post slinking-away of the disc jock. I may go back again, in a pinch. Not too expensive, and it might be nice for a fancier happy hour. Oh, by the way, they advertise $8 valet parking, but it's really $10. Not a lot of difference, but I hate it when I'm told one thing and it turns out to be another.
