I have been coming to Silk City for three years. I love the food and I love the staff. In the warmer months, the outside patio seating is ideal! The last time I was here was on a Thursday night before a show at the Electric Factory. I was here with a group of 8 and we knew that there will be a long wait and we did not mind waiting. (The food is that good and the specials get better and better) The manager and the hostess were so nice. They apologized for our long wait and gave us a complimentary cheese fries (it's a big bowl of fries). Thank you Silk City!!!!

I am beginning to get the feeling I have gone to Middlesex on the wrong nights. Perhaps I'm just not cool enough to get it if I did. It goes like this... My first time at Middlesex, a Friday night with friends to try something different. Possibly not a great choice in the winter - long line even at 9 pm. Problem solved once inside cuz the place is small enough that its all warm and filled with bodies - many of them hip and enjoying some drinks while dancing. I really enjoyed pushing my way to the bar....or being pushed... yeah, not really. I really enjoyed having room to dance... yeah, not so much. But I did like the lounge decor and crowd in general, plus it was a chill place to come for dancing and drinks without quite the hype of the usual club. The music is well-played by the DJ, mostly a mix of new and old school hip hop. People are mingling and using the small space to their advantage. Overall, a 4 experience. Next visit, Saturday night. Waiting in line again. Slightly older euro-type crowd: why are you looking at me like I don't belong?! Some representatives from the previous Friday night crowd were there too, but in fewer numbers. Hrm, this is suspicious... Once inside, not as much a fight to get to the bar. But what is up with the music tonight? Perhaps the 80s-trance-90s fusion with bad transitions is just not my thing...forgive me if its yours. Continued disconcerting glances from euro-females who aren't dancing... well no one is really, so neither am I. And so... I should probably leave even though its not even midnight yet. A 2 experience. Anyway, the weekday scene sounds pretty cool. And I like the vibe of the place in general. So perhaps I just need to give it another shot and hit a night that's more my style. But for now, a nice average of 3 stars is very fair for Middlesex as it has not proved to me its reliability.
