by Ed S. on I would recommend coming here earlier around 7pm, because this place will be packed later at night around 9pm, when they had a DJ playing music. We left before the clubbing crowd start coming in. Similar to Eclipse di Luna, which we like the food better, it's very loud but it has more space in between tables compare to Eclipse di luna, which is a HUGE plus. As always at Tapas restaurant, we ordered Paella, Empanada and nachos, which really filled us up. We were happy to leave with full stomach and great service.
by Anh T. on I suggest you stay away from Margarita Jones unless your jonesin' for a terrible time... *crickets chirp wildly in appreciation as Anh T. clears her throat* When I heard that MJ has a Happy Hour between 9pm and midnight, I was ecstatic to find a potential hangout in my hood. Slap me silly with a big blue cockatoo. I really should've known better. The crew and I arrived close to 10pm and were told that Happy Hour was only available in the tiny bar and outdoor area. Since the bar was already crowded with ladies with much more "ouch" than "oomph," we decided to sit outside in the dead cold. Our cock-tease of a server mentioned heat lamps in the vicinity but never actually brought one closer to our table. Frost-bitten noses and fingertips ensue. Nonetheless, the $3.50 margaritas and beers, along with half-priced appetizers and well drinks, seemed very promising. After we ordered our food, someone indicated that free appetizers were also available in the dark bar. By then, super awesome reggaeton (*note sarcasm*) was already blasting from the speakers. My friends were forced to maneuver through a crowd of wild women in order to fanagle two plates of cold and greasy bean flautas and cheese nachos. It is possible that this "crowd" was actually 2 big and bouncy ladies but when it's that dark, no one could really be sure. I can't say much about the chicken flautas, guacamole dip, and deep fried ice cream other than that they were really effing horrible. I've never known anyone to really screw up ice cream, but somehow the accompanying chewy cornflakes and cinnamon chip made our dessert taste like chewy, cinnamon-y poo. I also can't say much about the pitcher of Dos Equis for $10 because well, it is what it is. Lastly, of the three flavored margaritas ordered (mango, melon, coconut-pineapple), mango was voted best-tasting though it was far from memorable. What was quite memorable, however, was the subsequent rash that broke out on my body, not from a cheap hook up, but rather the cheap tequila. Then again, maybe it was the hook up.
