by John T. on Grace Tavern is, was, and always will be my favorite bar. Sadly I'm no longer in Philadelphia, but I always make a pilgrimage whenever I return to my old 'hood. The beer list is top notch, as you'd expect from a Monk's subsidiary. But the atmosphere, music and food really make it. Fantastic service - Rees and Leo rule, though newcomers who don't know what to expect sometimes can be taken aback. This is not a place to do shots and jagerbombs; it's way more low key than that (and the bartenders will let you know). Best burger. Best fries. Perhaps the most underrated aspect of Grace was the homemade cake. If I had lots of money, I'd invest in a teleport solely to be able to still go to Grace for a late night beer, some fries and a piece of chocolate stout cake.
by Carolynn Lenherr on Yay for my 100th review! Talk about a bar that's away from the well-traveled road. This place is not far from the ballpark but 330 Ritch is definitely isolated. That being said the music was really good and they were mixing up a really nice variety of beats. The drinks were strong, and in line with most other clubs in San Francisco (though not as expensive as Vessel or any of the super pricey clubs). The scene was quite mixed, both in terms of men and women and diverse in terms of ethnicity. The only thing I regret? Not asking the really cute girl with curly blonde hair and glasses if she wanted to dance. Oh god. I'm back in 7th grade.

I'm trying to figure out where my taste and the douchey contigent intersect...also if the acts get to hear how mediocre the acoustics and basically not-very-good the sound is at this place before they agree to play here... +two stars for attracting really cool acts, but... - three stars for making me deal with so many douchebags to see them. UPDATE: I bumped it up one star because the Cut Copy show last night was so epic, and I think my booty fell off, I danced so hard. ALSO I forgot how immaculate the bathrooms are, and there are hella stalls. So I begrudgingly have to love them a little more for that.
