The place where you find the most confused group of people. I've been to Marquee several times throughout the years, and tonight was probably the worst night ever. For a Thursday night, there was a small line outside waiting to enter. The door guys were not very friendly, and we were meeting a promoter for VIP tables. We looked at the group of people in line, and some girls were dressed up, but some college frat boy looking guys in flip flops and baggy jeans were also standing in line. We got in the door with no problem by mentioning promoters name, but we were handed some little Marquee cards to give to the cashier. Is there a cover for other people?! When we entered the club, a big bouncer pointed us to the roped off area which led us to COAT CHECK. Is it a requirement? We were confused. When we got to the front of the line, it was $4. I didnt even know how long we would be staying, so we snuck out of the line, and proceeded to the dance floor area. SHOCKED the crowd of people... some OLD OLD men were there, and some college frat boys, and a couple of girls, everyone pretty much spread out throughout the club, and not really packed. Horrible house music playing on the first floor so we went upstairs only to find WORSE music. A scantily clad dressed cute chick with black lipstick was playing RAVER music. I felt like I was back in the early 90s. Who still listens to that crap? I was informed by several people that "hip hop" would be coming on in 20 minutes. 20 minutes turned into an hour of drinking off the promoters bottle, and not enjoying the video game headache music. Looking around, we had a group of 15 HOT HOT rocker crowd. Everyone dressed to the 9s. Our table was the best dressed and stuck together. I couldn't stand the music anymore, so we had to go.... I vow to never come back here. Meatpacking club scene is just not my cup of tea anymore..

This is a terrific place if you like the bridge & tunnel crowd. It is obviously a very straight and young place. Most of the men are horrendously dressed, actually frightening, my wife made the comment. It is a young, drunk, rude and idiotic crowd. If you have a developed music taste, say you may have experienced music from a variety of countries, cultures and variety you'll hate the place. The music is truly mind numbingly awful. Brain dead drum machine variety, thrown in with the occasional bride to be with the head dress on, lovely. I remember going to Bruno's in years past and it was a fun night out. Place reminds me of Ruby Sky variety, basically everything I can't stand. You can't have a conversation in the place, so if your friends are as dumb as a plank it is a perfect location. The only saving grace was the bartender working the upstairs, pussy cat lounge, she was very charming and attentive, that was appreciated. I guess if I was 22 again it would still suck. 19 years ago I was at Ronnie Scotts in the Latin Jazz club upstairs in London. It had amazing music, terrific vibe and great live music downstairs. Another soulless place.
