by Apryl Crincoli on My review below was 5 stars for when Jamie was the chef. Now she's at Absinthe, so no clue how the food is now. Probably nowhere near as good.... === This is the new restaurant in the Temple nightclub, basically taking up the modern ground floor during dinner hours. Chef Jamie Lauren was a SF Chronicle Top 5 Rising Chef last year while at Levende, and now she's headin it up at Prana with her specialty California-Indian (mostly shared plates). Like.... Seared diver scallops with spicy creamed corn, sugar snap peas, and nigella seeds w/ mint sauce. Or a whole organic mini-chicken stuffed with spiced lamb. Her signature mini-lamb burgers. Coriander-crusted tuna on fava puree and papadam. Samosas w/ pea greens and goat cheese. Cumin cauliflower soup shots. Corn pani puri. Cardamom chocolate grenachey dessert. Jamie is all about farm-direct organic and sustainable ingredients. They're also going to feature "superfoods" (like broccoli, blueberries, salmon, etc) that are proven to be really healthful. More importantly, her food is delicious. And she's not afraid of meat or butter... :) Definitely going to help up the rep of Temple...... And be a nice addition to our city lacking upscale Indian. Oh, and affordable! The most expensive thing is $20. Most will be less.
