by Enid Spackman on I remember coming here with some friends after watching Daft Punk at the LA Sports Arena. Some house DJ was spinning, we're having drinks in the upstairs bar when this dude behind me keeps wanting to fist bump or high five me every 2 minutes. I finally go hey man, I'm glad you're feeling good, but wouldn't you rather find some nice kitten to pet, maybe even a cougar. There's a dance floor full of them downstairs, it's like lion country safari down there, just watch for the saber tooth tigers, they bite. About 10 minutes after this my friend turns to me and says hey stand in front of me real quick, I didn't really know why he asked but I was okay man whatever. I soon find out why as this hungry puma comes busting across the room straight towards him. She pushes me out of the way with her paws (Pumas are damn strong) and gets about 2 inches from his face. She looked like she was ready to lick her prey until her fellow feline came along and dragged her away. Watching that was like watching the National Geographic channels documentary "wildcats on the hunt for prey". Anyways the puma kept trying to escape the hunter she came there with as she kept eyeing my friend like he was that night's meal. I was going to tell that hunter that I think he needs a stronger net, but we decided to leave that area before the jealous hunter turned his shotgun on us. I've also been here for a concert. I came here to see She Got Revenge with the Brazilian Girls (yes I know it's She Wants Revenge but have you seen that dude's grill, it looks like she got her revenge already). I went with a group of people who don't get out much. My friend takes a diet pill from one of the girls were with and then he starts bouncing off the walls like he's some ADHD kid who hasn't taken his Ritalin in months, the only problem is he's pogo dancing and nordic tracking to the mellow electro lounge sounds of The Brazilian Girls, I told him sorry buddy Trance night's on Saturday. Overall the Avalon's not a bad place to dance or watch a concert. It's also great for those nights you really forgot to monitor how much you drank and you need a place that stays open really late (9am on Saturday nights) to sober up. They have some pretty good electro acts on weekends and the place is pretty large with a cool upstairs area. The cover charge and parking are pricey but at least there's not a ridiculous dress code, otherwise I couldn't wear my safari gear.
by Jenn A. on It was a super wet and rainy last night. That didn't stop the droves of people to come out to Bruno's and get the dance on. Any bar that plays Brass Monkey is cool. It was an added bonus when Bel Biv Devoe started playing. "That girl is poison Never trust a big butt and smile That girl is poison poison"
by Stacy H. on If anyone is curious the pool bar is where the hot men in LA are. And this pool is the most amazing hotel pool in all of LA. Olympic size. Of course its hard to get in and its 27 bucks for 2 drinks. Oh and I was there on a friday - apparantly that is the night to go.
