If you're hazy and tired after a crazy couple hours at Hiro (that involved watching women swing from the ceiling, semi-strippers, and a muay thai style knock out of the dude next to you), your clothes have fight blood splattered on it, and you want to round out the "evening" (er...early morning) and unwind at a lounge that serves snacks only drunk people would appreciate, and continue to get wasted (or wake up on a couch alone with nobody familiar around you ... then third floor cafe is the place for you. from what little i remember, there were two very tiny elevators that transported you (and 3 of your skinniest friends) to the third floor from a small nondescript open hallway with one security guard. seemed like a great lounge. i honestly don't remember most of it. just some buffalo wings with foil wrapped around the edge so you dont have to get your fingers dirty (how thoughtful), and deep fried battered beef bits, fruit plates, and jack. can't do a price rance on it b/c it really depends on how much you drink.

Went with my birthday buddy in honor of our birthdays. Overall, it was good. Would i go back? Probably but only for the ambiance and special sushi rolls. Appetizer: Tartar - four chips with one of each: salmon, lobster, tuna, and yellowtail. Meant for one person, not to share. Entrees: we both got the sushi dinner which was good. the fish was fresh. Special roll: Ajna Roll = my favorite. Absolutely delicious and i didnt want it to end. The server brought us some eel sauce to compliment the roll. Wasabi there was pretty weak. Cocktails: Mombasa (very tart) and Black Buddha. Both were eh, and light on the alcohol. So we went straight for the wine. Waiter was not knowledgeable about the wine list, he merely told me that one of the four that i had narrowed it down to was "good" and it was somewhat suspicious that he picked the most expensive of the four to say that about. Diverse crowd. Very cool space.

Definately divey but still has the Mission street charm. Go for the fun outdoor patio where you are bound smoke a cig and to run into a familiar face if you have lived in the City for more than a year. Usually there is live music... and not to mention the cheap Monday night drinking that happens. I went on a Monday and was carried out the door with my wallet still relatively in tact. Yay for Monday at El Rio.
