Ended there a few times when crawling in the Mission with drinking friends. It's not the best bar in town, but it has some potential. The drinks are good, and not too expensive (it's not a dive bar either). I can't give more than 4 stars because I haven't been there too many times, and haven't been to the upstairs (paying) section. But from what I've experienced so far, it's a good place to hang out. Small anecdote: during the gay pride, while waiting in line for the bathrooms, a guy decided to use the trash bin instead.

YAY! Went here for the first time wednesday....loved it. period. It's huge and mostly outdoors which was perfect on the warm balmy night. lots of pretty people to look at...with loud enough music so you don't have to hear them talk, because let's face it, the quality of personalities in these places is pretty damn low ;) The staff was friendly too! which was a little surprising. they even have a little boutique inside the club! like a dumb person I dropped $200 on a necklace. alcohol will do that to you. I don't like going to clubs very often because I find the loud music and amount of people somewhat over whelming, but I would definitely go back to colony again!

I've only lived in this neighborhood for almost 4 years and I'm JUST getting around to checking out Mamajuana. Shameful, I know. I'd heard good things about it, so a random stop on a Sunday evening was the thing to do for me and the BF. The food was very well prepared and flavorful. It's what I call "elite" Dominican food. There is a heavier focus on seafood items (there's only one beef dish and one lamb). The ceviche is very refreshing, with a slight sweetness that was welcome. The crab cakes are just okay; they could use more of their avocado aioli. The churrasco is marinated and seared, producing a wonderful flavor. The food overall was very very good. The place itself looks like that modern mix with rustic qualities...rather on the darker side of ambient. It can get quite loud and crazy around the bar, but its pretty spacious. GET THE SANGRIA. That thing is hella tasty. For the neighborhood, it's on the higher end of pricey. $30 sangria pitchers (but they're big pitchers), app averages between $10 and $15, entrees in the $18+ range. Our bill for 2 ended up around $115. I would go back for sure.
