I've heard great things about Michael Mina and his food, but unfortunately XIV did not live up to his name. Maybe I came on a wrong night or maybe this Fall menu is just no good. But overall, I did not leave satisfied last Friday night. Most of the dishes are a hit or miss: Himachi Sashami - no no no. You do not put fish sauce with sashami. It just doesn't work. Kobe Skirt Steak - although the meat was tender, it was not to die for. Bay Scallops - Ehhh, I don't really have anything to say. It wasn't that special. Dungeness Crab Ravioli - yes, the crab is fresh. Probably the best thing I ate all night. Pork Belly - I've had much better. The plates are too big for the actual food. The actual presentation was not all that great either. I can see why people say their service is slow. When the restaurant started getting busier, it took our waitress longer to get our order, dishes, and check out to us. But I will give XIV and Michael Mina another chance. Maybe in the Winter, when the menu changes.

I absolutely love Mayan energy, no wall flowers here. If you are looking for a night club where dancing is acceptable this might be your spot. Friday nights they play different types of music from hip hop, to Spanish rock to 80's. I was scared that the one bathroom of the first floor was going to be a problem, but not at all. Since there are no mirrors in there the line moves quiet quickly. There is also a second floor where only hip hop is played, but this i did not like. It was small and super hot. This is not your typical Hollywood club with sexy lounging, in there mostly everyone is hot and sweaty from all the dancing. Guys were not afraid to ask girls out, the majority seem Latinos but you'll get your occasional little bits of everything in there too. Drink prices are average... long island $10, vodka on the rocks $10. Going to get fresh air was just a door step away, they got the side doors open for a convenient smoke or for a momentary break. I would def go back, i just wish the place wasn't as crowded.

I swear it was like Korean Dudes night last Friday here but I like Hiro. The Japanese theme somehow works in a freaky deaky hip hop club. Decent sized dance floor downstairs amidst a some tables. Got a table with some friends upstairs which was very reasonable and service was great. Pretty nice spot for an Asian place with good music and vibes.
