A new Haiku: The food is not bad =) Patio view is stunning =) Loud bass ruins my sleep =( Used to eat there for brunch, but now that I live close enough to have to deal with the loud parties, I think I've sadly developed a case of the screwyous.

I got an email from The Daily Candy telling me about this new place and I had to check it out, since it is walking distance from my place.  The owner used to be affiliated with Teddy's, and I remember enjoying the music and atmosphere there (once you dealt with the door people).  My friend and I walked up and there were 3 doormen.  They asked us if we had reservations.  We laughed because it was a Tuesday night and they are not really about food there.  One door guy was a little over zealous and serious about his door duties.  Being 2 ladies, they let us right in after quizzing us.  They were curious how we found out about them, and of course I gave Daily Candy a shout out. My friend and I were very impressed when we walked in...and that doesn't happen often to me when seeing new places in Los Angeles.  Of couse, everyone has their own sense of style and what they like, but this was right up my alley.  The walls were very high, almost warehouse-y.  Very dark interior, lots of beautiful light fixtures, velvet antique couches, chandeliers.  Loved the furniture.  It was very French.  It actually reminded me of the Hotel Costes, which I had the pleasure of visiting early this year in Paris. Not only was the decor neat, but I really liked the DJ.  He played everything from Brazilian Girls loungy electronic to Bob Marley to New Order.  I must say it is refreshing to hear some good music at a club in LA.  (Not even sure I would call this place a club...more of a lounge).  His music definitely added to the ambiance. As far as dress...there were a few girls there in cute party dresses...but I felt it was more about being a hipster at this place.  Very eclectic crowd that melted well together.  My friend and I hated to leave, but had to get some zzzz before work.  I will go back for sure.
