i ate here a few months ago and would have given it 4 stars had i not been too lazy to rateclubs it afterward. we ate there during happy hour and the $1 oysters and spinach dip left me anticipating my return. alas, disaster awaited. first of all, we ordered kumamoto oysters, which anyone who knows anything about oysters knows are tiny little buggers. what we got were massive, mealy monsters that tasted hours away from rotten. when i inquired about what i thought was a misunderstanding the waiter lied to me and told me they WERE kumamotos. bullshit. it took 2 queries and a chat with the affable manager before the waiter admitted they were indeed out of kumamotos. furthermore, we ordered the risotto. big mistake. oh, and the spinach dip was not longer on the menu. wakako u. never did like this place and she must have struggled mightily not to "i told you so." she was, however, elated when i told her i'd be giving them a very rare one-star review.

Had a great experience at Trigger this Saturday night for my bday... strong drinks, HOT go-go dancers and bartenders, and most importantly, GREAT MUSIC!!! So much better than the played out crack-pop remixes at Badlands! I don't know what all the negative reviews are about, but this club was definitely a much needed upgrade for the Castro dance scene. Thanks for making my birthday great Trigger (and it didn't hurt that Falcon pornstar TJ Hawke gave me a special birthday dance either)

CLUB BITES- PARIS DECATUR OK, New York has the Statue of Liberty, London has Big Ben, and Paris Decatur has hickory-smoked North Carolina Style Barbecue. Susan Bird recognized that the City of Decatur had a void in its culinary selections- no barbecue. North Carolina Barbecue dates back to 1500's when the Spanish introduce the pig. Quickly it flourished like no one place making North Carolina the cradle for barbecue. The unique style of slow cooking at low temperature over a prolonged time creates juicy flavorful meats. At Paris you can enjoy eastern style of Carolina barbecue with the dry rub spices and vinegar base used to season the meats. Each morning, the self-taught chef, Dawn McCullouch, gets the smoker going and fills it with Pork Shoulders, Beef Briskets, and Whole Chicken, and of course Ribs. The cooked to perfection, juicy Pulled Pork sandwich retained its smoky savory flavors. Try this with the house-made Tabasco-tomato based sauce, a side of potato salad that has a touch of mustard, and an ice-cold Red Stripe beer. The Pulled Chicken sandwich on a Kaiser roll with the sweet and sour Hawaiian sauce is a perfect blend of white and dark meats. The creamy, sexy yams with its cinnamon undertones, and a glass of the elegant 2007 Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio matched nicely with this juicy bird. The thinly sliced Beef Brisket served on Foccacia bread has rich hickory flavors coupled this with the Bourbon sauce and a side of Mac 'n' Cheese made with a blend of cheddar, mozzarella, and asiago cheeses was yummy!!! The 2007 Doña Paula Los Cardos Malbec's rich brambly black fruit aroma with its lingering flavors of currants, spice and herbs is a perfect wine for this down home barbecue. Oh yeah, the ribs, these fall-off the bone delights went perfect with the soy based Asian Sauce and a side of the heavenly smoked beef collards. The dark black fruit aromas and the black berry, spice and pepper flavors of the 2005 McWilliams Shiraz went well with these finger licking good babies. One other dish of mention is the Fish Fry Rice that consists of strips of Whiting fish blended with summer vegetables. This dish needs a Corona and lime and a sunset to complete the want-to-be-at-the beach experience. Paris brings the casual social event of eating barbecue for your pleasure Monday to Friday from 11AM to 5PM with extended hours on Friday serving until midnight. Carry out orders can be faxed in advance. Be ready to lick those fingers!!!
