Beautiful establishment. Small, intimate rooms with rich fabrics and warm lighting. Had an Old Fashioned while huddled in a corner compiled of book shelves and candles. Swanky new money mixed with old veterans of the neighborhood. I'd wear a little black dress any day for this lounge.

this is for banana split sundaes: - Parking is right next door, so you dont have to stumble too far to get to your car. - Line is a bit long if you come late, i think we had to wait about 40 but we got in for free (we showed up around 11). - It's pretty small inside, so gets packed real quick - esp. near the dance floor. - Bar gets super packed too, takes a while to get drinks, typical hollywood pricing. - The best part about this place are the DJ's , they were pretty damn sick. hard hitting electro all night. steve akoi and autoerotiques the night we went. - 2AM seems too early to close! keep it open till at least 4!

I came across the Rite Spot one rainy, cabless and bussless night after being turned away from a sold out show at Bottom of the Hill. My friend and I decided to walk back to the Mission and, soaked to the bone, we took refuge in the first open door we found. Make no mistake, the Rite Spot is a dive, but its lush red walls, gold ceiling, white table cloths and candle light were a haven that night. We were the only people there aside from a patron who was playing Journey covers on the piano. We had found the right spot, indeed. Ever since, the Rite Spot had been a favorite of mine. Part of the allure is that you never know what you're going to get. It can be busy or empty. Its walls feature rotating exhibits by local artists. Service is passive-aggressive. The food ranges from amateurish attempts at old favorites to comfort food delights, though I always love the artichoke crostini and the tangy eggplant sandwich with a side salad and Ore Ida crinkle fries. Even the music wavers between tasteful bartender selections and the sometimes insane machinations of local artists. The Rite Spot is like San Francisco in that it can be pretty and ugly at the same time. If you're willing to take whatever it has to offer, you'll love it too.
