by Junior Rafuse on I haven't writen a review in a long time, but after my experience here I needed to vent and let everyone aware of the experience Vanguard created for us. My friends and I booked a table for my friends birthday which was also the Saturday before Halloween. We paid over $600 for the table which included 2 small bottles of greygoose and 1 bottle of champagne for 10 people. The promoter (who i wish i got her name to put her on blast) amped up that it was the best table and everything since it was looking over the whole club. When we got in we only had access to the top floor where our table was located. I admit, it was a great view of the club from the top, but there was a plexiglass wall so we could not hear what music as playing. Once we got one drink, we headed downstairs where the festivities were going on. Downstairs was the main club and there were lights, arial acts, and a big crowd all in costume and the bouncers were not letting us go! We were restricted only to the 2nd floor! We tried to argue with the promoter who booked our table and she was no help and instead argued back at us. She apologized (which did not seem sincere) but did comp us with an additional bottle of champagne. We just gave up and tried to make best out of the situation. BTW, the 2nd floor that our table was on was horrible. There was no decor! All the walls were just pitch black. The music was just okay. There was no DJ, no dancers, no light show or arial acts, the bartenders were rude, no real dance floor, most depressing smoking area, 2 stall bathroom! AHHGGG! For the amount we paid it was just not worth me and my friends coming from orange county. We will never come here again!

My cousin's fiance from VA came to spend her bachelorette party weekend here in CA. After giving her a few days with my sister and the rest of her bridal party, we finally decided to meet up with them on their last Saturday night. The venue of choice was Blvd3. In case you're thinking about just showing up expecting to get in, don't bother. It's either guest list only, pay the bouncer or bottle service. So make plans appropriately. Why did I like it so much even though I didn't drink? Well because it has a really chic and modern decor, diverse crowd, free fruits with chocolate fondue, free tacos, yeah I said free tacos, lots of places to sit and chill outside even though you don't have a table reservation and the best part of it all ... To quote Notorious BIG from the song Big Poppa "Cause I see some ladies tonight that should be having my baby, baby" http://www.youtube.com... I can't really comment on the prices of the drinks because, well ... I didn't drink but I can tell you that 3 bottles plus tax and tip came out to like $1,400 ... kinda pricey but split evenly amongst our group, it wasn't too bad for a special occasion. I'm glad my future cousin-in-law and her girls had a good time.
by Madeline C. on Ok, let me mention that I have read the reviews from other rateclubsers before I came here on Saturday night for my friends birthday.... and the majority of the reviews hit the nail right on the head. DO NOT GO!!!!. Duvet is very overrated and the club looks nothing like the website. However, I gave Duvet 1 star because I didn't have to pay. Despite what others have written about their experience on the line, I waited only 12 mins to get inside, not 30 minutes. The bouncer checked my ID, the bull-dyke security gaurd only waived the wand on me, and did not touch me at all, meanwhile her partner checked my purse ( looked in and gave it back, he didnt check every nook and cranny, like everyone else say). I have gone thourgh alot worst going into other clubs in Manhattan where security actually grope you, and your on the line for an eternity. The Negative about Duvet: The bartenders charge different prices for the same drinks (the female bartender charged me $10 for Hennesy and Coke, while the male charged $14). so watch out for that. The mix of music was bad. The "DJ" did not know how to mix at all. The beds were nasty with menstural stains and dirty chicks dry humping random men. Which leads me to the fight that broke out between "the dry humping durnk girl" and "the dumb girlfriend" Oh, and Duvet that night was also featuring the "Hustler" models on stage, I didnt see it because thats when I took a turn for the restroom. I dont think their modeling was all that special, by the time I returned it was all over. (5 mins give or take a min or two). If you want to have a better time, check out Kama right next door or Slate accross the street. I also heard Taj ( also accross the street) is good. Who ever gives this place more than 3 stars have not fully experienced the NYC club scene or, are out of towners who want to brag about the club in NYC with beds dirty beds inside.
