Vessel is a solid place to go if you wanna dance. I had my birthday here in the past (epic disaster...i'll spare you details) I was impressed how quickly my email was returned about my lost Id and iphone. Returning recently for a redo vessel came through... same friendly staff. easy coat/bag check in and music you could dance to (do they always play the same 2pac song "its all about you"?) Good times.

Do not go here for nightlife, yuck! Kudos for opening up a lot of space but that does not mean pack the place so that I'm bumping into sweaty people. However happy hour is OK, you actually get to enjoy the venue. I like the decor, nothing like I've seen in SF. A variety of areas to sit. They have decent priced drink and food specials keeping in mind you're not sitting in a dive bar. Then again, it is the cusp of Tenderloin. With an "extended happy hour" my friends and I decided to dine. The food, ahh man, what a disappointment. I get how they're trying to be modern with the smaller portions and play of presentation but that should reflect the quality of the food. I paid $15 for a LOBSTER DUMPLING, yes just one dumpling, I ordered it thinking it was dumplingS, then again, is sure was dumpling$$$. The lobster tasted like it came from a can and the fancy bubble like pea broth had no taste. We shared a number of other smaller dishes but I don't remember much so I guess that explains my take on their food. Oh and I have to mention the light-up menu. Mind you, the lighting is dim and we were there for a while, I opened the menu and BOOM, I had to shut my eyes like I was staring at the sun. Cool deal but I could have used a warning.

A few years ago I lived in a pretty cool loft like space right around the corner from the Dragonfly and walked there every few months. I always had a fun time. Last I checked, Friday was Miss Kitty's Parlor - a pretty wild S&M night with go go dancers, a spanking booth, whips & chains & party games, and wild outfits. Wasn't unusual to see a guy dressed like Pinhead from Hellraiser, a couple of tattooed Rockabilly nurses, guys in raincoats, a girl with a python and a painted on black eye, and some unusual valley types who's perversions were obviously extreme and rather poorly defined. There's a rotating floor show that usually becomes a train wreck of freakiness and nudity. If you get there before 10, I believe there are drink specials. Also, if you get on the Miss Kitty mailing list (google it) they will email you invitations and cover charge discounts. Sunday is the Spazzmatics - a show produced by the same people that do the Boogie Nights show here in LA and Las Vegas. The performers are funny, well rehearsed, and their sets are extremely tight. Their 80s renditions are totally entertaining. Once they did a Violent Femmes medley that totally blew my mind. Don't know if it's still the case, but there used to be a high celebrity factor here on Sundays - B Real from Cypress Hill was smoking out the whole room, Sam Rockwell was breakdancing, Vince Vaughn and his douch-ey buddy Cole Hauser were playing hard to get with star-struck OC girls, Lara Flynn Boyle was there with some guy from Gray's Anamoty, and that guy who starred in '300' was doing some hard drinking on the back patio. It made the show even more entertaining. Also, the girls here usually outnumber the guys. By the time the Spazzmatics do 'Like a Virgin', half a dozen of them jump the stage and drunkenly start taking their tops off. If you have Sunday night free and like this sort of thing, I say check it out
