The fish tasted super fresh but the service is seriously lacking. The meal took our party of 3 well into the two hour time frame and this was with appetizers and dessert. The black sesame mochi was really good. The salmon nigiri was fresh! Reminded me of MF Sushi which j enjoyed but not the quite the price markup of Midtown. Friends tried various rolls and everything was good but the spicy tuna had varying amounts of sirachi and some left my mouth on fire. The same could be said of the sashimi and sushi platters which really don't skimp in wasabi, be careful. Draft Asahi was also pretty tasty so give that a try, and be ready to drop at least $30 on a dinner. Also tried some appetizers to start and the crab cream croquettes were seriously all cream, did not taste any crab. The squid in vinegar was pretty great and a wonderful palette cleanser. The gyoza came super hot and were super tasty, will probably get more than one order next time.

I've never done the night bowling before with the blacklights, but the blacklight on my lane was't all that bright compared to some of the other lanes. There was a large column directly next to my lane, which I've also never experienced before. Highly distracting to say the least. Everything was complicated when asking for a lane, deposit card first, then pay for shoes second without card they took away from you. Finally get shoes but don't give them one of yours. Mysterious indeed. Now I had a good time and drinks were moderately priced I guess for a place like this, but those security guys were such assholes!!!!! I mean c'mon, they were staring at me the whole time, non stop like they wanted me to give them a reason to use force. They left a bad impression of that place for me, I felt like they thought of everyone there as punks, even though they were all punks working there. The cherry on top was upon returning shoes, and the security oaf came up to the front desk next to me and got his walkie talky and fatness all up in my shit next to me without even noticing. Go back to the woods you bowling alley moron.

The Middlesex is one of my favorite bars in the Boston area. They know how to mix a proper drink, top shelf and at a reasonable price. the place has some class and their food's pretty good if you get there early enough for snacks. I can generally have a good time there no matter what the eclectic flavor of event they're hosting on the given night but the place IS NOT for everyone. If your idea of a good time involves Bud Light and grinding on strangers then head over to Tequila Rain, you'll have a blast there... not so much here. Oh, and they always have Champagne chilled and ready to go for Champagne O'Clock.
