This is my favorite place to eat in the city. Seriously. I made reservations for my birthday this year and the staff went out of their way to accommodate me and my 12 guests! Super smooth service, amazing atmosphere and friendly people everywhere! And the food? Tantalizing! I think Little Baobab is highly underrated and needs as much love as they give! Check this place out!

The Midtown $25 Restaurant Week deal was a great excuse to finally try out this restaurant. A big group of us dined here before a night of clubbing at Opera: Highlights: - the free basket of cornbread and biscuits. The biscuits were pretty ordinary, but the cornbread was some of the best I've ever had. I enjoyed that it was not dry and crumbly like most versions I've tried. - the Fried Chicken was fantastic. The crust had an excellent flavor and you could tell the chicken was of a high quality. It was a huge portion and I also liked that it had very little bone in it. The mashed potatoes that came on the side were nothing special though. - Great location, especially if you are hitting the Midtown nightlife afterwards. Lowlights: - Appetizer field green salad was nothing exciting. Definitely not worth the $7 or so it costs on the regular menu. - They had a special dessert of warm chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream and chocolate ganache. On the menu, it sounded blissful. In reality, the cookies were hard and not warm (think Chips Ahoy), and I didn't see any chocolate ganache. - Jack and Cokes were $10 each and pretty weak. If I'm going to pay double-digits for a drink, I at least expect it to be fairly strong. - Service was capable, but not very friendly. I won't be adding South City to my regular rotation but it's a pretty good spot for occasional dining. I think it's a good place to take out-of-town guests that want to try somewhere with a southern twist.

Wading through those insane facebook event invites, I came across this invitation to go to the opening of "Sloane." Given that my friends' name just happens to be Sloane, it was almost a given that we'd go. The night came and we where on our way. The layout and decor of the bar was pretty cool. Tall ceilings, movies playing on the big screens on the wall, huge bar, nice bathroom attendants and a separate smoking area, all up my alley. The music was amazing, but then again, it always is when DJ Storm is in control. LOVE HIM! However, there where some set backs. There is absolutely no seating (not at the bar, smoking area, anywhere) other then those reserved for the bottle service. It wouldn't been amazing if we could have sit and relaxed, even for a second. An even bigger problem were the attitudes of the bartenders. They were downright rude at times. It was bad enough that my friend actually told the woman, "word to the wise, don't disrespect your customers." There is absolutely nothing worse for me then a rude bartender. I do understand that this was an opening event and there are bound to be kinks. We actually spoke to the manager who was GREAT! He was so proud of the club (which he should have been) and was definitely open to feedback. He was really concerned with the bartender issue and went straight over to remedy the situation. I would definitely come back to this bar. It has great potential and with a manager like that, I'm sure the small issues will be worked out. However, at the moment, I can just give it three stars.
