Definitely an amusing place, with all the games (with prizes) and foods that you would want and expect from a bar trying to replicate those neighbourhood fairs. Very kitsch. And perhaps worthwhile for a short time. But I felt that my visit, any longer, would have dulled the interest in being at a place like this. Plus it seems that this bar isn't good for those on a budget. Each game is too many tickets to play for such few 'chances' to win the prizes. Beers are generally over $6 for regular fare. Though I must say it does seem worth it to shell out $25 to be the guy dunked in the dunktank. That just looks like fun!

Finally made it to Bowlmor after seeing it advertised on the subways for so long, listing all the celebrities that have bowled there. To be honest, I wasn't thrilled for a few reasons. First of all, there is a dress code. No hats. But you could wear football jerseys and basically any other article of clothing. Just no hats. Pretty stupid. We got there around 6:30 and were told there would be a 45 minute wait, yet we could see a few open lanes. So as soon as we drop about $50 at the bar on food and drinks, our lane is miraculously ready. Literally in less than 10 minutes. We bowled 2 games, 4 people, and it came out to $108 just for the bowling. Shoes were $6 as well. To be fair, the best deal at this place was probably the food, which gave pretty good portions and wasn't over the top expensive. The actual bowling experience was no better than I have had in similarly themed alleys, like Dave and Busters for instance. Perhaps if we ran into a celebrity I would have added a star. Sadly enough I have already bowled next to an NBA player in the past, and it was at a local dump bowling alley that costs probably $10 to play 3 games. Go figure...

Ramscale is a unique event venue in the penthouse space of the old Bell Laboratories building in the heart of New York's Greenwich Village. From the huge windows and the over-sized patio, you can catch beautiful Hudson River sunsets and glimpses of how the well-to-do live since Bono and Nicole Kidman's buildings are just a few blocks away (trust me, I spent some time wishing I had some high-powered binoculars...) We hosted a launch event for a client here, and at first glimpse were kind of in awe of and surprised by the unique quality of the site and weren't sure it was what we wanted (since we booked it sight unseen.) We worked with the venue manager Rocky (the best,) to make it our own through A/V set ups, moving furniture and all of the visual fixins provided by our event company Events By Dano (see review,) and it really ended up being a fantastic place to work with. No stuffy ballroom, no crappy, dirty, overdone nightclub space; Ramscale provides you with something different and unique. Pros: - great space with great stories and history and a one-of-a-kind view of the Village and the Hudson - amazing management by Rocky; available for anything, ready for anything and gives the best tips on good food you can order in during your event set-up. Flexible, accommodating, laid-back and friendly but professional. - the place is completely white, so it serves as a blank canvas to bring in whatever colors you need whether for a corporate event or for a wedding or other special event. Cons: - It's a few blocks from the 2 closest subway stops and it's nearly impossible to catch a cab on the West Side Hwy following. Bottom line? Not the most convenient of places as compared to a venue in Midtown. - It can be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
