i'm glad i could contribute to dragging duvet's average rating down. i've never liked this place. its located in the shitty flat iron strip on 21st street btwn 5th and 6th avenue. with clubs such as strata, taj, slate and the newly opened the yard (formerly porky's), this area is full of drunk and obnoxious people. duvet seems to be the mainstay of the group, being around for many years now while others have closed and changed ownership. it used to be very velvet roped, but that has changed. duvet has gone somewhat ghetto and they actually allow people in...at a stiff price. they were charging $40 for admissions when i went. $40!!!! only to go in and get ripped off by the drink prices. and its always crowded in there. the dance floor is pretty spacious and i do like the layout. the djs are usually on point as well. when you buy a "table", they provide you with beds instead. pretty neat concept but not exactly convenient. don't u usually want to sit while drinking, facing your friends in a circle or what not? and who knows if there are cum stains on the bed. what if my girl sits on the stain and gets pregnant? (she goes commando, god bless her). but how would i ever believe her story? i would think she cheated on me and we'd get into a huge fight. why only one star? cause the bouncers are big and scary. i swear, they're bigger than the usual big bouncers u see. its as if they ate them and grew exponentially bigger. what if they lose balance while i'm standing behind them? life...over. also the $40 cover and the ghetto crowd? yeah i'll pass. go to hell duvet.

"What a JOKE!" The bar is always crowded with "posers" and bartenders and owner think they rule the world. The drinks are overpriced and the atmosphere is obnoxious. They have lots' of rules and stupid traditions that only serve the ego of the owner and staff. If you like being told "what to do" and being treated like a child... you'll love this place! My Experience: It took 45 years, but I finally was kicked out of a bar. It was a cold winter night and I entered the tavern with my very nice fedora on. I was seated at the bar by the hostess. I ordered a beer. After about 30 minutes, suddenly my bartender (that I was talking to the whole time) suddenly looked at me and demanded that remove my hat. When I hesitated for a split second he started berating me and threaten to have me ejected. I was in the process of drinking the last swallow of my overpriced beer, when 3 thugs (bartenders) started heading my way. I was wise enough to quickly leave before they physically tossed me out the door. What nerve! All my friends there were appalled. Never Never Never again. Listen to me and avoid the BS from these losers.

Place is fucking huge and the past two times I went, practically empty! I don't know what happened to this place because it used to be crowded every night. Its not a college type bar and more catered to the yuppie crowd. I'm more into the college ambiance so it didn't do it for me.
