This place is good during the *Weekday* (like MOST Manhattan hotspots). If you come during the weekends it makes no sense expect to enjoy. I find that weekends in the city is hectic even when going to the gym, getting a haircut or going to your favorite brunch spot. During the week, my friends and I come here to escape the vapors of ennui that plague us.  Once inside we always have a good time. The drinks are pricey but for me it is worth it because they are well made and there is no cover charge. The crowd is vibrant and eclectic. Preppy Ivy Leaguer, hip hop star, rocker, model, school teacher, dancer, banker, lawyer, artist, trust fund kid, non-profit types all mixed together just to have fun.  The music is great. This is a good diversion during the week. It serves its purpose.  It is sexy. The Doorman is great. Wass Streven is a pro. He is a staple in the NYC nightlife. From  Pangaea, Veruka, Marquee and now Avenue). If you do not get in the first time, he is not being a dick for an ego trip. He is employed to keep certain minimum standards set by the owner of the night spot. He has to make a good party out of what he sees that night.   If you do not get in, big deal. If it is that important to you to experience that place then go back. Wass will let you in--eventually.

Well, I must first start out, that I didn't eat dinner and was just at the club. But when I ate the buffalo wings, they were tasty with real blue cheese dressing. Now, the club sucked. Maybe I was too young, and that's how it kinda looked, but it was the worst. I went on a Saturday, and the DJ seemed to not want to play any music from the 2000's. And when he eventually did, it was like three all dating before2008. I was not impressed. It was very coupled up, so definitely go with a boo or a group, or you're ass'd. They had a dress code to just get in upstairs (club down stairs) and they checked your id everywhere. People had no rhythm, seemed hella awkward... I was just glad to have been with homies. It was an old crowd who were interestingly dressed, old music with a dj more obsessed with takin pictures with girls, and bouncers sucked (they were rude and not on point, a fight was happening literally 2 feet from a bouncer and we had to call him over). I'd never go back again unless someone can tell me better about the food.

Horrible club, do not go here! See below as to why... I invited about 10 of my friends to come out to the club that night, and so before hand sent an email to the guest list staff listed on their site and asked them to put us on the list...no response. When I got to the club w/ my  friends, Robin - the promoter or whatever, said that I didn't get a response because it was P.Diddy's private sponsored event. And she also could not discount the $20 cover because it was so packed! We all wanted to party so paid anyway, but to our disgust, when we walked in the club there were like 20 people there, and definitely no P.Diddy party! Robin completely lied to us! When I asked her why she said that, her reply - "I didn't lie, there are just a lot of people sitting on the sides and so it looks empty"... Later on, I went to get a drink, and when I asked why the drink was overflowing with ice, the bartender said she could remove the ice, but then would just put more mixer in my drink, not alcohol...when I asked if she could make the drink a little smaller, she poured my cup of ice out and walked away refusing so serve me! Lastly, because they had such little attendance, they turned on the lights at 2:00am, 2 HOURS BEFORE THEIR SCHEDULED CLOSING TIME! No refunds, no apologies, in fact Anthony, who said he was one of the Managers specifically said he didn't give a sh*t that my friends and I had paid full price to get in, only an hour earlier... Prob, worst club experience I have ever had in SF!!
